ALISO VIEJO, Calif. and WILMINGTON, Del. October 7, 2004 - Buy.com, the Internet Superstore, and Bank One, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. [NYSE: JPM] today announced a multi-year extension of their credit card contract. Since 1999, the companies have teamed up to offer the Buy.com Platinum Visa* Card, which provides consumers with a secure, convenient method of payment, as well as great opportunities for savings and rewards.
“By extending our partnership with Bank One, we continue to provide our customers with exceptional value,” said Buy.com President, Neel Grover. “We feel it is important to give something back to our customers and the Buy.com Platinum Visa Card allows us to do just that,” he continued.
According to a survey conducted by Forrester Research in September 2004, this year marks the tenth anniversary of online shopping. In the past ten years, online shopping has grown to a $100 billion industry and 34 percent of the total population will shop online.
“Extending our partnership with Buy.com just seemed a natural fit for both companies and our customers,” said Hugh Bleemer, executive vice president at Bank One’s card services
division. “We’re excited to continue to offer the Buy.com Platinum Visa Card to consumers. Consumers want the ease and convenience of shopping online with a variety of merchandise and Buy.com offers both of these benefits.”
Buy.com cardmembers earn three reward points per dollar on all card purchases made on Buy.com and one reward point per dollar on all other card purchases made anywhere Visa credit cards are accepted. Every time cardmembers accumulate 2,500 points, they can redeem them for merchandise at Buy.com.
The Buy.com Platinum Visa Card also offers a low interest rate and platinum benefits including emergency cash and card replacement, up to $500,000 travel accident insurance and zero liability for unauthorized purchases.
