Ghost Recon: Future Soldier for the Playstation 3 Review

Almost a year ago at the E3 Expo in Los Angeles, Ubisoft was showing off the gunsmith feature on the Xbox 360 version of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier that utilized Kinect.  It was pretty cool how it used motion sensing and voice commands.  Unfortunately, the PlayStation 3 only has the Move controllers and the Move support touted on the package refers only to that Gunsmith mode, not to anything more than that. The customizations options available are a welcome addition but pairing up Move controllers just for that, even with being able to run around the firing range, is a waste of time....more

Starhawk for the Playstation 3 Review

Starhawk—dubbed the "spiritual successor" to the hit multi-player phenomenon Warhawk—takes third-person shooter action into outer space. Like its predecessor, Starhawk features an addictive mix of land vehicles, aircraft, and hand-to-hand combat in a variety of objective-based game modes. The biggest deviation in Starhawk's game play from Warhawk is the inclusion of a single-player campaign. Though a single player mode was designed to be released with Warhawk, it was ultimately eliminated as the developers felt the quality was inferior to the multiplayer game....more

Game of Thrones RPG for the Playstation 3 Review

It should be noted that you don’t need to follow the television series or have read the books to follow the Game of Thrones RPG. Obviously it helps, but those unfamiliar with the series won't feel out of place, unlike the constant bugs and muddy textures that plague the majority of the game. Game of Thrones had a seven year development cycle, but you really, really wouldn't assume that from state of it, it just feels very rushed in order to coincide with the success of the recent TV series....more

When people think of the Metal Gear series they think back on the several generations of the very popular series that started back with the Nintendo Entertainment Systems and ending with Metal Gear 4 on the PS3 and the upcoming Metal Gear Rising game. Gamers now get a chance to relive one of the most popular series created with an HD facelift....more

Diablo III for the PC/Mac Review

The unfortunate truth is that sometimes I just don't know the best way to write about a game.  How can anyone write a review of Diablo III without discussing the debacle that has been trying to actually play the game on launch day?  Yet, that's not really the game itself, is it?  And, presumably as the days, weeks, and months pass Blizzard will work out the issues and it will be smooth sailing...more

Armored Core V for the Playstation 3 Review
Add to Digg  Add to Delicious  Add to Google  Add to Yahoo  Add to Reddit  Add to Technorati   Click here to email a friend about this article  Permalink
Armored Core V is the fifth main installment of From Software’s Armored Core mech game series. Despite the Roman numeral, Armored Core V is apparently not a sequel to Armored Core 4 (2007) or Armored Core: For Answer (2008). The game starts off with a whole new storyline, making knowledge of the narrative details of previous installments unnecessary. The plot is not exactly easy to make sense of, however. You’re playing on the side of the Resistance, up against some sort of shadowy, militaristic corporation. Basically it seems to amount to good robots versus bad robots. If there’s significantly more nuance to it than that, it was simply lost on me....more
Order Up!! for the Playstation 3 Review

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from eating at one greasy spoon diner after another, it’s that not all chefs are created equal — and that’s something anyone who dives into SuperVillain’s Order Up!! are bound to learn. The popular 2008 Wii title has been broadened to audiences worldwide via a PlayStation 3 (and Nintendo 3DS) release, and has given me the opportunity to experience this cooking simulation game for myself in High-Definition resolution. And I have to say, I have found this menu item to be more than suitable to my particularly picky palate....more
Spirit Camera for the Nintendo 3DS Review

Included with Spirit Camera is an augmented reality book, splattered with ink, unnerving photographs, and illegible text. Despite this, the creator took the time to avoid the bottom corners on each page, ensuring they are (clearly) sequentially numbered. It's either a sign the demons the book spawns appreciate their artistic endeavors or have too much time on their hands....more
Silent Hill: HD Collection for the Playstation 3 Review

Most Silent Hill fans are very different from their Resident Evil counterparts.  They are easily more particular and in many ways could be considered purists. So, it is no surprise that when Konami announced that due to licensing problems, they were redoing the voices for Silent Hill 2 and 3 many were very upset.  It didn’t even matter that the replacement voice for James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2 is Troy Baker.  Troy is a primary voice in a large number of the biggest hits at last years’ E3 Expo in Los Angeles including; Catherine, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Diablo 3, and Bioshock: Infinite to name a few....more

Ridge Racer Unbounded for the Playstation 3 Review

Since its release in May of 2010, Blur has, hands down, been my favorite arcade racer.  Oh sure, you have people who like Split/Second better and in my heart, Nail'd has been a close second to Blur, but there's something about the Activision release which just does it for me.  However, with the release of Ridge Racer Unbounded, Blur may have lost the top spot....more
