12 rounds is a full rounded movie. It has kinetic flair, unstoppable action and tons of adrenaline. When a cop -Danny Fisher- sends to prison an Irish terrorist -Miles Jackson- he will bend on revenge with a list of 12 rounds, a set of hazardous tasks. If he gets to surmount these goals, he will be able to recover his fiancée. A tour de force movie with chases, crashed cars, out of control tramway. A well made thriller directed by the talented Renny Harlin (Die hard and Cliffhanger). Read More

Editors Note
Note Finnish director Renny Harlin (CLIFFHANGER, DIE HARD 2) brings first-time screenwriter Daniel Kunka?s story to life in the fast-paced action film 12 ROUNDS. When New Orleans police officer Danny Fisher (WWE wrestler John Cena) apprehends Miles Jackson (Aidan Gillen, THE WIRE), a villainous Irishman being pursued by the FBI, Jackson?s girlfriend is accidentally killed. One year later, Jackson is out of prison and seeking revenge, kidnapping Fisher's girlfriend, Molly (Ashley Scott), and setting up an elaborate game of cat and mouse that traverses the city. Now a detective, Fisher, with the help of the FBI and his fellow officers, has to survive 12 rounds of Jackson?s game--each more mentally and physically challenging than the last--if he wants to see Molly alive again. Meanwhile, the roguish Jackson may be seeking more than just retribution.^Although the premise is completely implausible, 12 ROUNDS is a fun thrill ride. Jackson?s plan and Fisher?s ensuing pursuit leave an unimaginable trail of destruction throughout the city, managing to encompass fire engines, buses, a streetcar, and a helicopter, along with fires, explosions, and blackouts, among other things. There isn?t a dull moment as Fisher and the FBI agents, played by Steve Harris and Gonzalo Menendez, try to outwit the seemingly omnipotent villain. Cena, resembling a super-sized Mark Wahlberg, fits the bill for an action hero. Gillen is a solid nemesis: heartless, stone-faced, and completely out for himself. Brian White plays Hank, Fisher?s partner and best friend, and Scott is appealing as Fisher?s feisty girlfriend.

Review I defy you to hate John Cena. Really. You can try all you want, but I don't think you'll make it. You can laugh at his bulging trapezius muscles, which look like they were designed in a lab by scientists from the future; you can mock his misguided elementary school attempts at acting, which make Jean-Claude Van Damme look like Richard Burton; and you can scorn his World Wrestling Entertainment pedigree. But you just can't hate the man. Even when he's leveling an already reeling post-Katrina New Orleans like a human bulldozer, he positively oozes homegrown Midwestern decency -- like Ron Howard, if Ron Howard could crush a brick with his bare hand. After all, it's not like Cena's Detective Danny Fisher wants to destroy New Orleans; he has to. His girlfriend has been kidnapped by a criminal mastermind named Miles Jackson (Gillen), and the only way to get her back is to follow the rules of Jackson's malevolent game of cat and mouse: a game that involves 12 "rounds" of near-impossible, clock-racing feats of physical skill, deductive reasoning, and moral gymnastics. Fail to make it to a destination on time, for example, and a bomb goes off; dial the wrong phone number, and the brakes go out on a downtown trolley racing toward a crowd of children. That sort of thing...Where Cena approaches 12 Rounds like a man with a purpose, Gillen knows there is nothing one should take less seriously than a movie directed by Harlin (Cliffhanger, The Long Kiss Goodnight), who long ago realized that as long as you keep the action moving at a blistering pace, your story doesn't need to make any sense, your star doesn't have to resemble anything human, and your movie doesn't have to be any good.
