Album Notes and Credits

Notes & Personnel Info
Muze PNote While 15 Tones isn't an official musical tie-in to the runaway hit 50 Shades of Grey book series, the album's S&M-lite art direction and track listing make it clear that it's intended as a companion to the highly sexed novels. The collection ranges from suave (Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On," Nina Simone's "I Put a Spell on You," Billie Holiday's "What Is This Thing Called Love?") to obvious (Bell Biv DeVoe's "Do Me!," Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love"), with a few interesting stops in between. Berlin's "Sex (I'm A...)" is a fittingly and somewhat surprisingly kinky addition to the set, while an unexpected level of depth and decorum is added to the proceedings by Katherine Jenkins and Kiri Te Kanawa's rendition of "The Flower Duet from Lakme" with the Philharmonia Orchestra, along with several other classical pieces. In all, 15 Tones is more interesting than the average erotic/romantic/Valentine's Day compilation, no matter what its inspiration was. ~ Heather Phares
