A high-powered magazine columnist's floundering marriage to a literary journalist is thrown into crisis when her husband spends a wild night on the town with his movie star friend. A self-styled Cinderella whose royal husband was one of the world's most eligible bachelors records her descent into paranoia as she attempts to recreate herself and her world. Praise
Kirkus Reviews
"Like a Bushnell character: glittery and irresistible but, likewise, ultimately unsatisfying." 07/01/2000 Atlantic Monthly
"Candace Bushnell, the author of SEX IN THE CITY..., now offers a grimmer, fictional portrait of rich, beautiful, and powerful Manhattanites....At times FOUR BLONDES reads like a bitter satire, and Bushnell scores some trenchant bits....But Bushnell's hard voice too often turns gushy; ultimately, she's infatuated with this world, and therefore glamorizes it. Her bleak and dispiriting comedy of manners is enough to make one a puritan." - Benjamin Schwarz October 2000
