Produced mainly by Jacquire King, it is the first record in her catalog to feature her playing all guitar parts -- including lead. Employing rock, folk, soul, and even funk, it's a storyteller's album that reflects the musical influences of her youth -- the Eagles, Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Chaka Khan, Sly Stone -- while lyrically offering a view of the past and its impact on the present, all encased in contemporary sonics. The title track is named for the main drag of Leavenworth, Kansas, Etheridge's hometown. |
