Ease of Use

When I first hooked it up, it worked with everything I attached to it no problem. About 48 hours later, it STOPPED working with my web cam. Just kept giving me errors for whatever reason. Did the same when I tried to use it with portable USB hard drives. Not worth the effort to send it back. Buy at your own risk.

This was a costly reminder to myself to READ Buy.com reviews BEFORE purchasing. This thing is a piece of junk. I plugged it in and the first thing I got was that familiar "this device is a slow piece of junk and is not capable of USB 2.0" (paraphrasing a bit, but you know the message). Basically, the message said "welcome to decade old technology" and thanks for being a sucker and giving us your money. Gee, thanks. I tried reading a memory card off it just for kicks and yup, INCREDIBLY slow. DO NOT BUY. It's huge and clunky also, bleh. It's not worth the trouble of sending back, which is probably the exact intentions the seller had for trying to unload old, junk hardware for whatever profit they can get from uninformed customers. Don't be one!! If I could give this review all zeros, I would.

Misrepresented: it is NOT a USB 2.0 device

by A customer on 1/4/2011

Received it yesterday. I tried this on 2 PCs by plugging into known USB 2 ports. When I attached a thumb drive both machines gave me the "this device can perform faster if connected to a USB 2.0 port" message. Since the machine ports are USB 2 and never give that message, then it is the device that performs at USB 1.1

I doubt it.

Incredibly slow. I mean really, really slow. I will never use this unless I am taking a long nap. Can't prove it, but I also suspect it is usb 1.1. It was a nice idea though. Maybe it needs the power source which is not included, in order to work properly. Just a thought. Some flash drives will not work with this. Since it works so slowly with one drive, I can imagine the admonition on the details page is correct that it might not work at all with too much power draw. I guess that effectively makes this totally worthless. I wish the first commenter had received his a week ago.
