	Bachata #1 2010 is a budget-priced bachata compilation that rounds up a few songs each from four of the style's top practitioners, Aventura, H?ctor Acosta, Zacar¡as Ferre¡ra, and Monchy & Alexandra. While the compiled material is generally first-rate, only one of the songs is from 2010 (Alexandra's solo single "Que Te Creiste T£"), which pretty much nullifies a third of the album title. A few of the songs date back to 2009, namely Aventura's "Por un Segundo," Acosta's "Me Puedo Matar," and Ferre¡ra's "Te Dejo Libre," but in general, most date back to the mid-2000s. The #1 in the title is also misleading. Yes, most of these songs were hit singles, but only about half of them were genuine chart-toppers: Aventura's "Por un Segundo" and "Mi Corazoncito," and Monchy & Alexandra's "No Es una Novela" and "Perdidos." Though the misleading nature of Bachata #1 2010 may be frustrating for those consumers expecting an album of chart-topping hits from 2010, those willing to overlook the release dates and chart rankings of the compiled material will find that it's first-rate. There's no question that Aventura, Acosta, Ferre¡ra, and Monchy & Alexandra are among the top practitioners of bachata, and in a way, it's nice to have a few tracks each from them. On the other hand, it would have been nice to have a greater variety of bachata superstars here like Xtreme, Toby Love, or Prince Royce. There's certainly space for more material on this 12-track budget compilation. ~ Jason Birchmeier
