| THA G-CODE is the second album released in 1999 by Juvenile, the sometime Hot Boy and one in a long line of hip-hop guns for hire. This third career release stays Juvenile's course of pounding, dynamic beats, as he sends much love to some, while ripping on those who deserve not to dwell inside his world of cars, girls, more cars, and money, money, money. | |
| While his lyrical content is in keeping with the well-hewn gangsta tradition, the unique, at times arrhythmic beats are what set Juvenile apart. These are not your typical Dre-style overlush backdrops, nor are they the Master P variety of dizzyingly off-kilter bleats; what Juvenile raps over here are some genuinely new sounds. Particularly enticing are the breakdown on "Never Had S***" and the mixed-and-matched funk on "F*** That Nigga." There's a constant pulse that drives THA G-CODE, one that makes clear that Juvenile has much more in store. | |
