	Rod Stewart's long career has found him putting his raspy, Sam Cooke-like voice to blues rock, blue-eyed soul, disco rockers, and since 2002, the Great American Songbook and modern soul and Motown material. This set, which features original versions of Brook Benton's "Rainy Night in Georgia," Dooley Wilson's "As Time Goes By," and the Temptations' "Just My Imagination," among many others, may have Stewart's name attached to them, but it's pure circumstance. These songs pretty much influenced everybody, which makes this collection well worth a listen, even without the Stewart connection. ~ Steve Leggett
