Good story with tragic ending

by A Listener on 5/15/1999

This movie accuratly protrays the incredible career of one the most talented singers there was. This movie highlights the budding career of an up and coming mexican-american singer whose life was cut short. Whether you enjoy Latin pop music or not, this movie is very entertaining. Though sad, it highlights Selena's talents and who she was and what a major world star she was about to become. This is also the definate starting point of an up and coming career for Jennifer Lopez who protrays the fallen pop star Selena. Read More

SELENA- THE MOST WONDERFUL FILM A BOY COULD SEE

by William J. Badurina on 9/24/1999

I love Selena. The singer, the music, the movie! Very few people have touched my life in the same way this beautiful Latino princess did. Her death and the events surrounding it were a tragedy that the world has yet to recover from. This movie beautifully captures the magic of Selena. I have watched this film nearly 18 times as of this review, and each time I leave it teary-eyed. Films like these only come along once in a lifetime. Do yourself and your family a favor. Buy Selena. Editors Note
Note A celebration of the life of Tejano princess Selena Quintanilla Perez, the rising star who was gunned down by the president of her own fan club in 1995. Amid the racial tensions and economic hardships of 1980's South Texas, the daughter of a Mexican immigrant (himself a failed doo-wop singer) grows up to be a sensation in the blossoming Tejano scene before meeting a tragic end. Light on insight, this biopic revels rather in Selena's on-stage achievements. Selena's father is credited as an executive producer to the film.
