	This collection of Rosemary Clooney classics brings to life the rich and profound musical career of one of America's greatest divas. SONGS FROM THE GIRL SINGER is an expansive anthology that documents some of Clooney's finest moments from 1946 to 1998. Tunes such as "Tenderly" underscore the incredible passion of Clooney's singing. On this track, she ruminates on the beauty of love at first blush. Her gentle and warm approach to this standard invokes the goose bumps of a first kiss. Few singers have the ability to wrap a listener in such a delicate yet potent musical veil. Another aspect of Clooney's artistry is represented by later cabaret tunes such as 1993's "Do You Miss New York?" where Clooney weaves a tale of harried life in Manhattan but still leaves the listener longing for the frenzied New York lifestyle. In general, this two-disc companion to Clooney's autobiography GIRL SINGER is filled with some of the legendary vocalist's most inspired performances, including duets with Frank Sinatra and others.

Artist Overview

An iconic American vocalist, Rosemary Clooney often blurred the line between pop and jazz, occasionally even venturing into country and international styles. She started out as a singer with the Tony Pastor band in the 1940s, and her solo career started taking off at the end of the decade. Under the stewardship of Mitch Miller, she had numerous novelty-oriented '50s hits, but later on she dedicated herself to more serious, jazzier work, making some of her finest albums, like 1956's BLUE ROSE. Clooney was also active in films and TV (for a time she had her own television show), and continued performing and recording tirelessly until her death in 2002.
