Artist: Christina Aguilera
True to its title, Stripped, the audacious new RCA Records release from Christina Aguilera, strips away the last remnants of her previous teen idol persona and what’s left is as real as it gets.
The sixteen new tracks that comprise Stripped, including her sensational debut single, "Dirrty," showcases an unadorned, unfettered and fearlessly outspoken artist who has liberated herself, her soul and her music on an album that is as much a declaration of independence as it is a convincing demonstration of her fierce and original talent. Simply put, this is the real deal.
Stripped has yielded a production and songwriting team that includes, among others, Pink producer Linda Perry; the team of Redman and Rockwilder; Alanis Morrissette producer Glenn Ballard; fast rising studio wizard Scott Storch, as well as artist/producer Alicia Keys.

Although STRIPPED is supposed to refer to Christina Aguilera's emotional rather than physical state, you couldn't tell based on her topless pose on the album cover, where the only nod to discretion is some strategically placed hair. Like Britney before her, Christina yearned to get away from her wholesome pop image. In the process, she hooked up with a wide range of collaborators including hip-hop producers Rockwilder and Scott Storch along with a myriad of guest musicians including Eve, Linda Perry, and Dave Navarro. Despite all the glitter and glam, there's no getting away from the fact that Aguilera's singing ability puts her head and shoulders above her poppy peers. Her rich, throaty style works well on slower numbers like a soaring Alicia Keys collaboration "Impossible," piano-driven nugget "Soar," and the Mariah-like "The Voice Within."
Other highlights include the snappy, Lil' Kim hip-hop workout "Can't Hold Us Down," sweeping self-empowering rant "Make Over," and the ribald, jeep-beat crazy joint "Dirrty" featuring Redman. Most revealing (on an emotional level) is "I'm OK," an acoustic guitar-heavy autobiographical remembrance of childhood abuse. Britney Spears may not be quite a woman or a girl, but the newly minted Christina is definitely closer to the former.

- 3 stars out of 5 - "...With its lack of gimmickry and a surplus of sweet Seventies soul, STRIPPED is almost an album for grown-ups....Sophisticated fare..."
- 6 out of 10 - "...STRIPPED is Aguilera telling us what a girl pop star really wants: to be free with her body, her art, and her heart..."
BioChristina Aguilera's breakthrough year began with her first #1 single "Genie In A Bottle," which stayed atop the charts for five consecutive weeks and rocketed the album to #1 upon its release in August 1999. The follow-up single "What A Girl Wants" reached the coveted first Billboard Hot 100 #1 slot of 2000 and helped to push the album into platinum territory six times over. What made all this commercial success so much sweeter, were Christina's two Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal performance. In February 2000, Christina's incredible ride to the top reached new heights as Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge and Sara McLaughlan announced, "The Grammy for Best New Artist goes to--Christina Aguilera." "It was an incredible shock for me," Christina recalls of that amazing night. "I was completely unprepared. My album had been out the least amount of time compared to everyone else, so I thought there was no way I'd win. But I was overwhelmed, shocked and overjoyed all at the same time." Over all, Christina Aguilera is as overwhelmed as she is thrilled by her enormous success, but she remains reflective and grateful. "It's been quite a roller-coaster ride," she laughs, "but I think I've grown and learned a lot about myself. In this business, it's often all about hype, record sales, and a crazy schedule of traveling, performances, and it can be easy to get lost in all that. But for me, the greatest thing is being able to interact with fans and touch peoples' lives. I know that's a greater accomplishment than selling records. For that I give thanks. I simply love the job I'm doing."
Customer Reviews of Stripped
Here's the thang12/18/2004
It's no doubt Christina Aguilera can sing...a lot better than Britney I might add, but that doesn't make her better. Stripped is an interesting blend of pop, rock and hip-hop music genres, but it's Aguilera's trademark over-the-top performance that make this CD worth purchasing. This album is really 4 stars, but because of her new overtly skanky image (more than that of Britney Spears), Stripped's true colors are worth 3.
christina great album3/22/2003
once again christina aguilera has come up trumps with a fantastic fun and cool album. I'd suggest you listened to it at any times in your life when maybe you're feeling low or like you're being judged. The best song by far is Aguilera's collaboration with Lil Kym - amazing! Other good songs include Dirrty (of course) and her wonderful new ballad Beautiful
BEST CD I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE12/2/2002
Xtina has grown so much as an artist, this Cd truley shows it. An AMAZING combination of Latin beats/Hip Hop/A little country and ballads... Dont be fooled by the first SINGLE dirrty, the cd is full of ballads love songs and overall energizing, self confidence music. Truley one of the best releases of 2002! ... Her voice has matured so much since Christina Aguilera and Mi Reflejo, Best song on the album is deff Impossible, but they are all just so great!.. this is the type of album you can listen to from start to finish and just want to leave on repeat the whole time!!!
1. Stripped part 1: This is an intro to the album. You hear voices of EmineM, Fred Durst, Britney Spears and more. It’s a good intro for the album. 2. Can’t Hold US Down: I think this is the best song on the album. It is like an anthem for women. It’s about double standards. It features Lil’ Kim, but I don’t really like her part, but she only sings 2 or 3 lines, so that’s aight. 3. Walk Away: This is a beautiful ballad. The beginning is a bit boring, but when you get into the song it’s amazing. 4. Fighter: this is a great song and it features Dave Navaro. It is real rocky. It’s about backstabbing friends and how that made Christina so much stronger. You wouldn’t expect this song from Christina, but I really love it. 5. Primor Amor Interlude: here Christina talks about a latin lover that stole her heart. She does this in Spanish. Basically it tells you what Infatuation is about. 6. Infatuation: This song is about how her mother used to warn her about these latin lovers, but Christina can’t help to fall for one. The song has a Latin feeling to it. It’s an amazing song. I really hope that this will be a single. 7. Loving me 4 me interlude: I think the should have left this interlude, but it’s aight. 8. Loving me 4 me: I’m not a real fan of this song, it’s aight as background music, but it’s a bit boring. In this song Christina gives you the readons why she’s inlove with a guy. 9. Impossible: beautiful song. It was written by Alicia keys and you can really hear that. 10. Underappreciated: love this song. It’s about how Christina feels underappreciated by her boyfriend. 11. Beautiful: this is a good ballad and it’s also her new single. It really shows Christina’s vocal abilities. She sings that she’s beautiful no matter what everyone says. 12. Make Over: Love the song. It sounds a bit like the Sugababes. It’s about that she doesn’t need that someone tries to make her over. 13. Cruz: Beautiful ballad. It’s about that she’s leaving to someplace and just leaves everything behind. 14. Soar: great song, nothing to tell about. 15. Get Mine, Get Yours: I really love this song. It’s about having sex with a guy without any strings attached. 16. Dirrty: everybody knows this song, because it’s her first single. It doesn’t really fit in the album, but it’s a great song anyway. 17. Stripped part 2: it takes of where stripped part 1 ended. 18. The Voice within’: this is my favourite ballad, it’s so beautiful. It’s about that you have to trust the voice within. 19. I’m OK: This song is about her abusive father, the lyrics are great, but the song isn’t that great. 20. Keep on singing my song: again a beautiful ballad, it’s about that Christina keeps on singing no matter what.
