| Clement Dodd's Studio One label was the source for much of the important ska and early reggae in Jamaica. This set features instrumental backing by the legendary Skatalites and harmony vocals by The Wailers (Bunny Livingston, Peter Tosh, and Bob Marley). These 18 songs were released originally by a group of artists that includes Delroy Wilson, Lord Brynner, Lee "Scratch" Perry, Rita Marley, Ken Boothe, and others. The selections date from the earliest years of Studio One, and there are previously unreleased numbers, as well as rarities by The Wailers themselves. This collection is a fine companion to the Bob Marley & The Wailers DESTINY collection, which features selections released under the band's own name from the same era. This historic material sounds as fresh and exuberant as it did on the day it was recorded. | |

- 3 stars out of 5 - "Before introducing reggae to most of the world, Bob Marley & The Wailers sang backing vocals for most of Jamaica's early ska stars. Which, these days, seems to be a good enough reason to wheel out yet another 'Bob Marley' release..."
