From the Publisher:
As children snuggle under their covers, birds tuck their heads under their wings, sheep huddle together in a warm blanket of wool, and even boats and trucks are quiet. Originally published in 1943, this Caldecott Honor book has had its illustrations restored to the original colors of the first edition.Night is coming and small things without words are going to sleep . . . sleepy bunnies, sleepy birds, and sleepy children, too, are getting under their covers. "Jean Charlot's illustrations are first-rate." NYT. Barbara Bader called this 1943 book, now restored to its original size and format, "the first of the true bedtime books." |
Annotation:
Nighttime is coming and small things are all going to sleep: bunnies, birds and, of course, children.
Nighttime is coming and small things are all going to sleep: bunnies, birds and, of course, children.
Author Bio
Margaret Wise Brown
Margaret Wise Brown, best known for GOODNIGHT MOON, the enduring classic given to every new parent, wrote over 100 books for children and was a pioneer in the areas of children's literature and education. Though many of her books featured bunnies and other fluffy creatures, she belonged to the Buckram Beagles, a Long Island hunting club. Brown won the Caldecott Medal in 1947 for THE LITTLE ISLAND. She died tragically young, at the age of 42 of an embolism following a routine operation.
