Unsure of what to make of her flamboyant, confident, and colorful gay cousin Leonard who moves in with her family, Phoebe observes him from a curious distance, but when he ends up dead at the bottom of a lake, she becomes obsessed with the murder and the need to get justice at all cost.
Fifteen-year-old Phoebe doesn't quite know how to react when her slightly younger and unabashedly gay cousin Leonard moves in with her family. The flamboyant Leonard stands out in the small town of Neptune, New Jersey, and although he soon has many friends, there are also some neighbors who are less than welcoming. When Leonard disappears Phoebe reflects on how much her cousin has come to mean to her and begins to fear that he might never return home.
