Great monitor! Great Value!7/17/2007
Easy setup, great picture and when I bought it the price of $419 was EXCELLENT. ONLY downside on this monitor for me is the lack of an adjustable stand, small complaint compared to how happy I am with all other aspects of it.
Good size and image6/13/2007
Bought this monitor a few weeks ago. Works fine, the image is excellent as promised. Looks a little bit plain. No additional inputs, i. e. USB or memory cards. Doesn't go up and down, only tilts. Can't rotate on its pedestal.
The Jury is Out5/29/2007
I bought this monitor because it was the least expensive (by far) 1920x120 monitor and had a lot of very good user reviews. I use the monitor for heavy text work (programming, word processing) as well as graphics work for website design. I previously had two Philips 180P2 monitors which I was completely satisfied with except for the fact that there were two of them which means a break in the middle of my desktop. I connected the Acer monitor to my Diamond X1050 card using the DVI cable that came with the monitor. After getting the drivers loaded (this was a new card for the PC) I was very unhappy with the results. Text had a blooming effect on certain color combinations, the monitor was way too bright, had too much contrast and the color balance was just way off. I tried all of the presets but no joy at all. I do want to point out that I am very picky but still this was just not going to do. After hours and hours of careful adjustments and side by side comparing of this and my other monitor and adjusting the monitor profile using Adobe Gamma I was able to create a monitor profile and combination of adjustments to color, contrast and brightness (on the monitor) that seems to be OK. I still cannot say that I am in love with this monitor but given what I want to pay I don't see a lot of alternatives. The size and resolution are just perfect so I do believe I will come to like it.
excellent product and this is the best place to buy... i have been a buy customer for years and very please with their products and never had any problems so far. thanks buy.com
Love This Monitor!!5/11/2007
I can't think of one bad thing to say about this monitor. I'm a graphic designer and I hooked this monster up to my MacBook Pro and it's absolutely fabulous! The color is beautiful, the response time is completely unnoticeable and it's looks great on my desk. I highly recommend this product.
Very nice monitor for most any use, although I purchased it specifically for use with digital photography. The size and format are terrific. Briteness and contrast are equally great. I can see both the photograph and adjusting tools at a very reasonable size because of the wide format. I notice the price is coming down too which makes it an even better value.
Giant Monitor is a Giant Deal!3/20/2007
I bought the ACER AL242416W monitor. It has been nothing short of fantastic. Terrific resolution and brightness. The price was the best deal I've seen.
Being a pro photographer, we needed a larger monitor able to present great color. We calibrated this and it is performing great. Best buy for a larger monitor out there.
This is my second Acer and again this is a real beauty!! No dead pixels, just plug it in and the auto-set-adjust does the work. I did, like the first one(22"), have to turn down the brightness just a tad! I'm just using the analog setup on both so I can imagine what kind of a pic this will have when I get new digital video cards and can go with the digital hookup! The picture is just stunning on this! Price is really nice compared to any other monitor this size....they don't come even close! Having a size like this is really nice especially for displaying various programs side-by-side like a spreadsheet or word document! I think you can spin this so the wide view is vertical but I'm not for sure....have to read the manual some more. I love this thing!! It really makes a difference in the way I use this pc!! The base on this is always attached and is very large and makes this rock solid! This is a great looking and performing monitor that I'm sure everyone who gets it will be more than pleased!!!
Great panel at a good price9/28/2006
As background I am a computer engineer in the day and run a photography business on the side, so I am in front of a monitor for many hours in the week. The Acer AL2416WD replaced two 21" monitors that were unable to retain color accuracy after a long life. After calibration the colors on screen are a near-perfect match for prints, enough so that I haven't adjusted anything else. With a 176x176 degree view angle the colors look accurate below, above, or to the side. I have noticed that if I lean to the right I can see a touch more shadow detail but for the price I can live with that. It's also really great to be able to read PDF's in full page side-by-side view. As far as I'm concerned there is no competition with this panel in the price range and size. The large Dell LCD's have terrible viewing angles and bad problems with non-uniform brightness across the display, and they are the same cost as the Acer. A true color calibrated LCD panel close to this size is over $4,000. The Acer comes within 98-99% of the color accuracy after calibration so the value is off the charts. The only thing I would change is a direct button to change inputs and add some height adjustability to the stand. Other than that it was money well spent.
I heard about this product from a friend and did some research. For the price, nothing can beat it. This is a huge, beautiful display. The only adjustment I made after installing it was turning the brightness down to 50%. I have zero complaints.
Top Notch Display8/22/2006
I've had this monitor for about 2 months. The display is incredible. If you don't use a KVM, this monitor can't be beat. In my case, I use a KVM, and the lack of ability to adjust picture width and size is causing me a lot of problems. The "auto" adjust doesn't always sync up correctly, and there is no way to manually fix it. Having said that, on my main system, when I get it sync'd correctly, it is nothing less than breath-taking. The display is unbelievable, and I have no dead pixels. Gaming is flawless.
