Customer Reviews of Acer ICONIA TAB W500-BZ467 10.1" Tablet, AMD Dual-Core C-50 (1.0GHz), 2GB DDR3, 32GB SSD, Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit (Silver)
Before you read my review, I'd like to point out that you may see Acer pictures on Amazon that make it look like different machines with different prices. They are not. There are two models available the W500 (this model) has Windows home premium and W500P, has windows professional. Now on to my review of the W500:
Great replacement for laptop for on-the-go profess3/27/2012
I needed a small replacement for my laptop. This windows op sys tablet was the best value on the market w/ comparable specs to other higher priced items. This tablet eliminates me having to learn the nuances of a new op sys (droid or apple) that can't fully support my frequently used MS Office software. Very happy & it fits right in my purse. Love that the keyboard was included at no cost!
I am very satisfied with this purchase. Windows 7 has to be tweaked to become touchscreen friendly.. But once it’s tweaked, windows is just as good as a android tablet, or ipad… google how to enlarge the scrollbars, border padding, caption buttons, and your touch win7 experience will be greatly improved.. one thing Im hoping for is a swype-like keyboard, Swype has one on the viewpad 10pro, but probably wont sell it to the public
Beats apple and andriod by far!2/6/2012
Great machine. I would recommand to anyone I see. Windows 7 functions very well on the device, the touch screen is very well sensative, and if I want to type with an actual keyboard it comes with one so that makes things a lot easier. The best thing I like about it is that I can put Microsoft office on it and don't even need a big computer anymore.
Good but a bit gutless1/11/2012
Seems pretty great BUT tabs in firefox have momentary pauses when closing and opening very likely due to the CPU being a bit on the weak side. However with a few tweaks to the OS so UI elements are larger it has been a good tablet and comparable price to the iPad with far more functionality and less ongoing costs (apps etc.). I would recommend to anyone who wants desktop / portable functionality and full windows support. (For those UK users out there, it doesn't quite manage BBC HD Streaming on iPlayer :( )
Best of Both Worlds12/15/2011
Tablet with Netbook like Keyboard. Also has a real OS. If you like the feel of a tablet, but also want a Keyboard for using with MS Word. Can't go wrong
This is a GREAT Tablet12/13/2011
We needed a Windows based device for work and this is perfect. It is small and portable. If you want a toy the get the Android version, but if you need something that you can use and be productive this is a great choice. We have purchased 3 for the office and I am sure we will add a few more.
I’ve had the w500 about two weeks now, and it’s a great tablet.. I am very satisfied with this purchase. Windows 7 has to be tweaked to become touchscreen friendly.. But once it’s tweaked, windows is just as good as a android tablet, or ipad… google how to enlarge the scrollbars, border padding, caption buttons, and your touch win7 experience will be greatly improved.. one thing Im hoping for is a swype-like keyboard, Swype has one on the viewpad 10pro, but probably wont sell it to the public.. They like to go the oem route.
Everything a PC Tablet should be, and more...9/26/2011
I have been using the Acer Iconia Tab for almost two weeks now. The screen is responsive, the speed is amazing, the sound is rich and loud and with around 5 hours of battery life (with a decent amount of use) this tablet is everything I expected a PC tablet to be when I first got the Archos9. It does everything I want it to as a personal and business machine, and with a dockable keyboard it becomes a touch screen laptop in an instant! I'm amazed at how useful and usable this machine is!
We develop point of software and this was a test to use tablets in restaurants. This device has great impression on our customers. Has a great performance and with a solid built, is the best choice for a variety of applications. Unlike iPads or even Andriod tablets, this can actually be a business machine. Great price and overall a huge value.
best tablet to get work done7/19/2011

THIS PRODUCT IS USELESS7/17/2011
I just called Acer technical support because the following items were nowhere to be found in the manuals, but the guy from India complete IGNORED my questions and kept asking what issues I had and that he would help me. He didn't understand my questions and refused to transfer me to someone who spoke English. 1. Viewing--the tablet only allows for horizontal viewing, but I thought it was supposed to allow for vertical as well like the iPad 2. The mouse doesn't allow for any type of clicking, so how is a person supposed to use the right click function? Using the touch pad to remedy this was a hassle 3. The touch pad is not very responsive--you have to practically slam your fingers against the screen to get any response 4. Internet connection is very slow 5. Comes loaded with useless software that takes up too much room and slows the machine down - Acer should have offered free download options instead 6. FIRST AND LAST - LOUSY, LOUSY, LOUSY customer support!!! I absolutely have no tolerance for lousy customer and technical support staff who speak LOUSY English and REFUSE to transfer me to someone who can help
wow--a true business touch pc in tablet form7/16/2011
I researched touch tablets for the last 3 months (i own 1st gen ipad), and this is the first one that actually does what it says it is supposed to do. I have a very realistic understanding that this not an ipad, but a Windows device to do work and play on. The ipad really is just an entertainment device, I made too many concessions just to perform simple business tasks on it. This computer is a real computer. its not a gaming machine, but it does everything i need to run real estate and property management. The windows touch experience is good to go--you can do everything you want with it--quit whining people, this is not a toy, but the next step in touch tech. Just wait until windows 8 comes out. Only rated 4 due to harddrive--come on, 32gb?
Solid netbook replacement7/11/2011
replaced a Samsung netbook. Speed is acceptable, price point is the same as a high end Android tab, but with a full Windows 7 OS, so no compatability issues. Video playback is excellent. Keyboard does have a good feel, but does get topheavy. Touch interface is responsive.
It is good to have a Win 7 tablet so you can use MS office and all of other Windows based programs. The dowside are 1) SSD drive is small for win7, only 16GB availabe for your new tablet, other space is eaten by windows! 2) 2GB memory is NONupgradable and sometimes Win7 reports the memory source is runing out !! 3) If you use SD card for more space, the prgram on the SD car is slow! 4) The polarity of one magnet on the dock is wrong and I have to open the dock to correct it otherwise the dock cannot be firmly closed with the tablet (this maybe an individual problem).
Best windows tablet for the price!6/20/2011
This is a great device with the touch screen and keyboard. Battery lasts about six hours and light gamming is possible using the amd processor.
