Should have been a franchise for Weathers

on 12/14/2012

Jericho "Action" Jackson is a Detroit police sergeant who was demoted from lieutenant for almost tearing the arm off of sexually violent sociopath Sean Dellaplane, whose father is Peter Dellaplane, a major car manufacturer. But Dellaplane himself is violent as well. Dellaplane kills his wife Patrice by shooting her. And then he plants her body in Jackson's apartment, framing Jackson. Dellaplane won't miss Patrice very much, because he has a drug addicted mistress named Sydney Ash.

Review Carl Weathers (Apollo Creed of Rocky fame) stars as the title character in this satisfying panoply of car chases, explosions and fist fights.... this pyrotechnic juggernaut ...is short on script and short on ideas, but so what, it's enjoyable, combustible fun.

Review Action Jackson is a movie where some of the parts are good, but none of them fit and a lot of them stink... Action Jackson feels like two different movies that ran into each other by accident. That could be funny, but this time it's sick, because the movie's comic scenes don't go well with its particularly nasty streak of violence... (Vanity) shows a natural screen presence and easiness under pressure. I had the feeling, watching Vanity in this unhappy movie, that she could play anyone in any movie and make it work.Ê
