Author Info
Kat Martin
Kat Martin has written more than 50 romances, and her work crosses all sub-genres, including contemporary, historical, paranormal and suspense. Born in California's Central Valley, she studied anthropology and history at the University of California at Santa Barbara. She was working as a real estate agent when she met her future husband, Larry Jay Martin, a fellow broker. "We were on opposing sides of a transaction," she has recalled. "I represented the seller and he represented the buyer." Larry was writing a Western novel at the time, and after they had dated for a while, he asked her to read the manuscript. She became his informal editor and subsequently decided to try her own hand at genre fiction. Her first romance, MAGNIFICANT PASSAGE, was published in 1988. Kat (whose given name is Kathleen) and Larry (who has written more than 20 popular Westerns under the name L. J. Martin) have collaborated only once, on the 1989 book TIN ANGEL, which they published under the pen name Kathy Lawrence. The two have made their home in Montana and have given up their real estate careers.
"With sleaze, sex and sizzle twisted into a complicated plot with strong characters and nasty villains, and set against the backdrop of Hollywood's strip clubs, AGAINST THE NIGHT will keep readers on the edge of their seats."
From the Publisher
Annotation Angel Fontaine isn't exactly who she appears to be. After private investigator and ex-army ranger Johnnie Riggs sees her stripping at the Kitty Cat Club (where he has gone to apprehend a bail-jumping pornographer), he discovers that she is really a kindergarten teacher named Amy Brewer. Amy has gone undercover at the club in search her missing sister, Rachel, who was known to have worked there. Touched by her story--and strongly attracted to her physically--Johnnie agrees to help Amy. A fast-paced combination of mystery and romance, AGAINST THE NIGHT will thrill Martin's many fans.
Editors Note She's got the face of an angel and the body of--well--what you'd expect from an exotic dancer. There's something about this girl that John Riggs can't shake. Her sister is missing and Amy seems to be the only one who cares. She'll enlist Johnnie's help and try to ignore her growing attraction to finally get some answers.
