Detective Alex Cross tells an ancestor''s story in this astonishing account of one man''s bold pursuit of justice in the face of racism and violence. Unlike any story Patterson has ever told before, this work still offers the astounding breakneck speed of any Alex Cross novel to date.
From the Publisher:
In a new book by the best-selling author, Detective Alex Cross tells the story of an ancestor, Abraham Cross, and his experiences with lawyer Ben Corbett, in an astonishing account of a man's bold pursuit for justice in the face of the resurgence of Ku Klux Klan racism and violence in 1906 Eudora, Mississippi. Reprint. A #1 best-seller.
Annotation:
Alex Cross has been around the block a few times--he's been doing police psychological investigations for years--but nevertheless, the story that his grandmother tells him manages to shake this seasoned professional to the core. The story, about an idealistic attorney from D.C. sent down to Mississippi in 1906 to look into Ku Klux Klan activities, has been passed down in the Cross family through the generations because it involves a distant relative. Longtime readers of James Patterson's extremely popular series starring D.C. investigator Alex Cross might find ALEX CROSS'S TRIAL to be a departure from Patterson's modus operandi, but this book offers deep insight into this character and his family's past that will sure to interest fans and connect them even more intimately with their beloved hero.
Author Bio
James Patterson
James Patterson grew up in Newburgh, New York, 50 miles north of New York City. Valedictorian of his class at the Christian Brothers school, St. Patrick's, in 1965, Patterson graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in English. He first entertained the idea of becoming a writer in 1971 when he worked as a college student in a mental institution, a job that afforded him abundant time to read. He came up with the idea for his first novel during that time, and five years later, after 26 rejection slips, his first effort, "The Thomas Berryman Number", appeared in bookstores. Since that time, Patterson has written numerous best-selling thrillers featuring the sensitive, modern-day hero Alex Cross, including "Kiss the Girls", which was made into a major motion picture starring Morgan Freeman.
