I went to sleep with gum in my mouth and now there's gum in my hair and when I got out of bed this morning I tripped on the skateboard and by mistake I dropped my sweater in the sink while the water was running and I could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bed day. (from the first line)
Viorst''s classic tale of a little boy who must accept the reality that "some days are like that," when everything he does goes awry, is one of her most popular works. "The clever text shines."--"School Library Journal," starred review. ALA Notable Children''s Book. Full color.
From the Publisher:

Alexander knew it was going to be a terrible day when he woke up with gum in this hair.

And it got worse...

His best friend deserted him. There was no dessert in his lunch bag. And, on top of all that, there were lima beans for dinner and kissing on TV!

This handsome new edition of Judith Viorst's classic picture book is sure to charm readers of all ages.

Poor Alexander is having a very bad day--from waking up with gum-filled hair to a toy-free cereal box to no dessert at lunch to revolting kissing on T.V.--it just gets worse and worse. Throughout these many ordeals, he contemplates relocating to Australia, but then his mother tells him the awful truth--"Some days are like that. Even in Australia." Illustrated with funky B&W drawings, this crank-fest has become a picture book classic.
