"It May Be Our Planet, But it's Their War!"
Get ready to get caught up in the biggest war of the century! Featuring big-budget action and special effects, this exclusive Unrated 2-Pack includes two films that science-fiction fans have been waiting for - AVP: ALIEN VS. PREDATOR and AVP-R: ALIENS VS. PREDATOR - REQUIEM!

AVP: The deadliest creatures from the scariest sci-fi movies ever made face off for the first time on film. The incredible adventure begins when the discovery of an ancient pyramid buried in Antarctica sends a team of scientists and adventurers to the frozen continent. There, they make an even more terrifying discovery: two alien races engaged in the ultimate battle. Whoever wins...we lose.

AVP-R: Packed with adrenaline-pumping action, heart-stopping suspense, and 10 additional minutes of blood-soaked action too shocking for theaters, this unrated version of AVP-R escalates the war between sci-fi's scariest movie icons! After a horrifying PredAlien crash-lands near a small Colorado town, killing everyone it encounters and producing countless Alien offspring, a lone Predator arrives to "clean up" the infestation. Soon it's an all-out battle to the death with no rules, no mercy -- and hundreds of innocent people caught in the crossfire. As the creature carnage continues, a handful of human survivors attempt a daring escape, but the U.S. government may be hatching a deadly plan of its own...

"[AVP-R] ...a brisk, gooey bit of schlock that's a million times better than 2004's action-lite AVP.  Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly
"[AVP-R] ...brings serious chills as the Predalien invades a maternity ward to lay its eggs, recalling the birth and motherhood anxieties of the Alien franchise.  Jamie Russell, BBC Online
"[AVP] ...Sanaa Lathan's in there somewhere as the smart and sexy ass-kickin' chick...  Luke Y. Thompson, Dallas Observer

Editor's Note
The first two cinematic installments in the ALIEN VS. PREDATOR series are featured on this program. ALIEN VS. PREDATOR (2004) sets the scene for the explosive battles between the two creatures, and is followed by ALIEN VS. PREDATOR: REQUIEM (2007), which transports the action from Antarctica to the American suburbs. Please see individual titles for synopsis information.

[AVP] Alien Vs. Predator is a gimmick - an all-too-blatant attempt to lure fanboys away from their computer games and into theaters. It's not likely that the movie will be of great interest to anyone else, except perhaps as a curiosity. As an attempt to revive two flagging franchises, the film succeeds in reminding us of how far they have fallen. Sure, the Aliens in Alien Vs. Predator look just like their Aliens counterparts, but gone is the creepy terror they once produced...As promised by the title, the movie does indeed feature battles between Aliens and Predators, although you have to wait until the final 30 minutes to get to that point. And, by then, due in large part to poor direction and non-existent character development, you may be asleep. Helmsman Paul W. S. Anderson (not to be confused with Paul Thomas Anderson - this is the Resident Evil/Event Horizon guy) has no grasp of why the first two Alien movies and the original Predator were successful - atmosphere and pacing...The film is critic-proof and it will find an audience, but it's hard to imagine even the film's target demographic (teenage boys) being overly enthusiastic about the product...Alien Vs. Predator has no characters and no story. But it has name recognition, and, in today's market, that's often more important. - James Berardinelli

Variety 6 of 10
[AVP-R] As the second round of an earthbound smackdown between two iconic extraterrestrials, "Aliens vs. Predator -- Requiem" provides enough cheap thrills and modest suspense to shake a few shekels from genre fans before really blasting off as homevid product. Slightly more graphic but appreciably less atmospheric than its PG-13 predecessor -- an upscale B-movie that offered the long-awaited monster match-up previously rendered only in vidgames and comicbooks -- the R-rated sequel likely will play best with auds who have little familiarity with, or reverence for, earlier installments in the "Alien" and "Predator" franchises...Occasionally, the filmmakers reveal a cheeky willingness to upend genre conventions, particularly when bending the rules regarding who lives and who dies in this sort of pic. But they may be a tad too clever for their own good while springing a sequel setup in the final scene, the meaning of which will be lost on anyone who isn't intimately familiar with arcane aspects of the "Alien" mythos...The actors have little to do here but hit their marks, say their lines and not bump into each other when the script doesn't call for it. Production values are on the level of a better-than-average direct-to-vid production or a Sci Fi Channel telepic, though the editing in a few battle scenes tends to confuse rather than excite. - Joe Leydon
