The funniest show on television is an 11-minute cartoon starring a giant milkshake, an extra-large serving of fries and a meatball. Collectively they're known as the Aqua Teen Hunger Force, even though there's nothing watery or teenaged about them. As for the Hunger Force part, well, there's not much superheroic activity, either...Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Space Ghost: Coast to Coast aren't necessarily smarter than any other shows on the air. But they are one thing that TV almost never is: consistently surprising. As such, they work against the medium's principal objectives: to comfort or reassure. Here, the typical rules of engagement may get subverted or destroyed several times in the same show -- it's up to you to get it. At once anarchic and rigorously constructed, this is comedy that challenges its viewers to redefine that boundary between the very funny and the very deeply f***ed-up. Not since Mr. Show has a TV comedy (or comedies) been so good at forcing viewers to ask, "What the hell am I laughing at, anyway?" - Jason Anderson
