A three-time Caldecott Medalist delivers a mixed-media picture book about friendship and art. Arthur is an accomplished painter; Max is a beginner. Max''s first attempt at using a paintbrush sends the two friends on a whirlwind trip through various artistic media. Full color.
From the Publisher:
Max wants to be an artist like Arthur, but his first attempt at using a paintbrush sends the two friends on a whirlwind trip through various media, with unexpected consequences.
Annotation:
Both a fascinating journey through some of the different mediums artists use and the excitement of learning how to paint, this picture follows young chameleon Max as he learns how to paint. His iguana friend Arthur is far more experienced than Max, and suggests that he be Max's first subject. But when Max takes this literally, interesting things follow. David Wiesner is the illustrator of the Caldecott Medal-winning FLOTSAM. Selected by Publishers Weekly as one of the Best Children's Books for 2010.
Author Bio
David Wiesner
David Wiesner grew up loving to draw in Bridgewater, New Jersey, and went on to receive a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1983. Though he was initially not interested in illustrating for children, Wiesner's early foray into creating cover art for a popular kid's magazine, Cricket, put him an extremely successful path that garnered the artist several awards. A three-time Caldecott Medal recipient, Wiesner is best known for his gorgeously detailed, wordless (or sparsely worded) picture books. In 2007, he won the Caldecott for FLOTSAM.
