good for 690$ and not for 830$2/27/2011
I bought this product for 690$ and i am happy with this product with at this price. for 830$ dell is selling its xps which is better than this laptop. mousepad is not as big as it appears on the pictures... it has a normal small size, after pressing power button it takes some time to start, after that it boots quickly, overall i am satisfied with the product , battery does not last 3 hours, it is slightly less that that for normal browsing and when playing songs, has a numeric pad but space b/w the keys in the keyboard is slightly lesser than normal lappies.bright display, speakers could have been better, though they are sufficient when in a quite room, has 1 gb nvidia and 4 gb ram 1000mhz, comes with asus preinstalled software, asus does not send any original dvd for windows, you will have to create 4 dvd to record factory settings, overall works smoothly win 7 is far better than vista and runs smoothly on this machine too , havnt seen any major crashes in past 2 months. this laptop basically is k52 series which is asus's one of the first product line, a52 is better than k52 in terms of graphics card , memory and computer body design
Good Performance but....11/27/2010
Good: Overall good performance and everything seems to work. Bad: No button to change volume and wireless netowrk. The speaker is very bad. Overall: It is a powerful laptop with reasonable price.
Asus makes a good product11/27/2010
This is my first Asus product. It replaced an aging Dell 610 which died abruptly. Its the fastest Windows PC I own or use at work. The keyboard is good and my wife loves the numeric keypad. The touch pad works well but the palm detection feature is annoying. The display is very good although I wish for a higher resolution than WXGA 1366x768. Only gave 4 stars for value because I've seen a few laptops with higher resolution close to the same price. Speakers are OK for a laptop. Haven't heard one that is OK for my hearing loss.
