|The CS1642 DVI Dual View KVMP Switch adds a new dimension to DVI KVMs by incorporating dual monitor support & an LED Status panel for a clear, simple method to select & monitor the advanced switching features of the KVM.
The CS1642’s independent (asynchronous) switching feature allows the KVM, USB ports, & audio to focus on different ports simultaneously.
One major feature includes Video DynaSync, this ensures proper resolution & refreshes rate when booting or switching computers. Mouse emulation maybe disabled to allow full functionality for programmable mice, & USB 2.0 peripheral sharing ports to share printers, & other external devices.

Gets the job done!6/30/2012
In order to save money, I tried the startec version of this first. I had so many problems with reliability. I dreaded hitting the button to switch wondering if it would all of a sudden forget about the mouse or the keyboard or one/both of the monitors. And if I had to unplug everything and put it back together in order to reset the thing. So I decided to pony up spend the the money for the Aten. Wow! What a difference. As usual, you get what you pay for. Everything works as expect with reliability I have two Apple 20" LCD running to it, a logitech wave keyboard and G5 mouse. Hit the button to switch and everything works. I am running the mouse WITHOUT emulation - basically pure USB - so I can retain the extra buttons it has. The keyboard I am running with emulation so I can use the hot keys - but the downside all of the non-standard buttons are not seen and logitech setpoint does not see it. The hot keys are nice. Really have to read the manual to understand all of them but there is a lot of things you can do. For example, you can be using the screens on one PC while have the usb and audio set to the other. Really cool if you have a need for it. But mostly I use the hot key that switches between the two PC so I can put the box out of site at the back of the shelf. Every once in a while, it will forget that there are two screens and only one is lit up. Luckily, there is a hot key to have it re-sync the EDID of the displays (FSM + D) which gets everything working again. Its pretty rare but the hotkey has always taken care of it. Otherwise, the unit is great and would recommend it to anyone who needs one.
