In 2002, agro-electronic music fans will finally get what they've been waiting three years for: KMFDM is back. With the current line-up of Sascha Konietzko, Tim Skold, Raymond "Pig" Watts, Lucia Cifarelli, Bill Rieflin and signature vocal diva KMFDM style mainstay, Dorona Alberti. KMFDM are set to release their comback album titled, Attak. A continuation and clear progression of past KMFDM projects, Attak, along with the new single "Boots" (a cover of the Nancy Sinatra classic), exhibits KMFDM at its glorious best while breaking into new dimensions in the process. Cohesive catchy hooks, and contagious beats will captivate minds and make bodies move. Sascha Konietzko has described the new work as "More faster, better than never ever before!" The final solution--KMFDM.

Muze PNote After a short-lived retirement, KMFDM came roaring back with ATTAK, issued three years after what was supposed to be their final album, 1999's ADIOS. Founder Sascha Konietzko and company prove that the mini- break didn't dull their penchant for industrial metal with a dance edge. Some of the selections prove to be more dance-oriented than metallic (such as "Dirty") or slower in tempo ("Save Me"), but there are plenty of hard-stomping, electroid rockers in the mix ("Sturm & Drang" and "Risen" will keep the metalhead portion of their large fanbase very happy). Also of note--with the release of ATTAK, KMFDM split from their longtime label, Wax Trax (with whom they'd recorded steadily since their inception in 1986), and set up shop with a new label, Metropolis.

Engineer: Chris Sheppard; Mell Dettmer; Raymond Watts

Professional Reviews

Q (May 2002, p.115)
- 3 out of 5 stars - "...Sonically adventurous: drum'n'bass and digital dancehall spice up the usual murderously heavy riffing..."

Alternative Press (5/02, p.88)
- 7 out of 10 - "...Pulses and palpatates with a sense of urgency that proves this machine is not obsolete..."

CMJ (3/11/02, p.16)
- "...the band remains a vital force in industrial dance/metal..."

Rolling Stone 8 of 10
...the heart and soul of the music...still seethes with organic energy. Each track on Attak is a masterful melange of the digital and the analog... the vital component here is the crafty intelligence that looms behind every song, tempering molten emotions with thoughtful purpose, and ensuring that this "attak" is purely friendly fire. - Sandy Masuo
