Editor's NoteALIENS and THE TERMINATOR director James Cameron returns to the genre that made him famous with AVATAR. As an avatar (a human mind housed in an alien body), an ex-Marine finds his inner conflict competes with the far-flung war he must fight. This sci-fi film reunites the director with his ALIENS actress, Sigourney Weaver, and it co-stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Michelle Rodriguez. Cameron also brings on WETA, the special effects team behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy, in his efforts to create this 3-D film filled with awe-inspiring CGI.

Customer Reviews of Avatar (Blu-ray)
My daughter really likes this movie
Yes, you've heard correctly...Avatar does seem to run a little long. But it's well worth the time you'll spend watching it. James Cameron has outdone himself with the CGI spectacle he's created here. The Navi are very believable and the world they live in is rich and beautifully rendered. The storyline lacks a little at times, and even for an action star Sam Worthington seems a little wooden. Overall, though, it's an entertaining and stunning movie to watch.
The visual effects in the movie are stunning, creating a world that has never before been possible in film history. The story is basically Pocahontas meets Dances with Wolves, but it is still worth seeing. Sam Worthington establishes himself as a very legit lead actor in a blockbuster movie.
Worth the hype6/5/2012
This movie had a lot to live up to, being James Cameron's first film since Titanic and having a gargantuan budget. Fortunately, it is a lot more than just fancy special effects. The story is not entirely original, but very well executed. The visuals help tell the story very well, instead of just being eye candy.
This movie Avatar is one of the best sciences fiction films out there. The special effects and cinematography blow you away. The character on the other hand could have used some work they weren't bad just could have been done better. Amazing movie overall though and i would highly recommend this film.
James Cameron did it again!!5/3/2012
Watching this movie in theater was a good experience but watching this version of movie was even better, in fact a great experience. The concept of the movie is out of the planet just like most of the characters in the movie. A true movie lover should keep a copy of this movie.
This is probably one of the best if not THE best transfer to blu-ray. It uses all 50 gigabytes! The picture quality is downright gorgeous. The DTS master audio is punchy and crisp. If you loved the movie in the theater 3d and are scared this might not live up to it... dont fear! This blu ray is just as entertaining as the 3d version, and in some ways better, the picture is so clear some have said it "almost" looks like it is in 3d. Like it is a window into the avatar universe. Highly recommended! Fun, entertaining and action packed!
