What happened?

The story about Balto and how he saved Nome, Alaska is a wonderful and moving part of history. Unfortunately this movie has changed the facts around and left out the humans who also helped. I suppose it's the adult in me coming out and I should just see it for what it was intended, that is, a movie for the very young.

Note Based on the true adventure of an Alaskan sled dog named Balto who trekked across the frozen tundra to deliver a serum to a remote village in 1925, BALTO is a heartwarming animated film that features the voices of Kevin Bacon and Bridget Fonda. Balto, who is half wolf and half dog and therefore an outcast among the other dogs, must endure the treacherous attacks of the evil Steele as he tries to lead the precious cargo of serum through the dangerous Alaskan winter to save the village of Nome from diphtheria as well as win the love of Jenna, a female dog with whom he has fallen in love.
Plot Summary
Summary This exciting animated adventure film tells the story of Balto, a brave canine who treks through the Alaskan wilderness during a blizzard to save the lives of sick children.| Steele, an overly proud dog who is admired by the other canines in Nome, delights in making fun of Balto, who is half dog and half wolf.| Meanwhile, Balto has fallen in love with Jenna, a beautiful Husky, and he attempts to win her over by proving his bravery. The perfect opportunity arises when he sets out to find a rescue team that disappeared while trying to deliver an antitoxin to the young victims of a diphtheria epidemic.
