Editor's NoteTo say that Christopher Nolan's THE DARK KNIGHT is the best comic book adaptation does the film a bit of a disservice. It may be a Batman film, but this isn't a kid-friendly action movie full of the bams and pows of the original series. This is a pitch-black thriller with enough drama and tragedy to please even William Shakespeare, but it will certainly keep both comics fans and uninitiated audiences equally happy. THE DARK KNIGHT starts in the wake of BATMAN BEGINS: with the appearance of Batman (Christian Bale), Gotham City's criminal underworld is unnerved. They're also plagued by the new D.A., Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), who, in his quest for justice, remains above the city's corruption. Enter a new villain, the Joker (Heath Ledger), who wants to unite the criminals for a common purpose: to kill Batman.THE DARK KNIGHT is one of the most hyped movies to date, and a lesser film would be crushed under the weight of all that expectation. Some of the publicity stems from the early death of Ledger, who turns in an excellent performance. He provides moments of humor, but this Joker is terrifying, sharing more with classic villains such as Hannibal Lechter than with his comic book predecessors. Eckhart is equally good as Dent, and Maggie Gyllenhaal deserves praise for taking over the role of Rachel Dawes from Katie Holmes. Though there's more emphasis on plot and character development than in most comic book adaptations, that doesn't mean Nolan has skimped on any of the action sequences. Each set piece is done perfectly, leaving the audience breathless. THE DARK KNIGHT is filmmaking at its best; its subject matter may be dark and depressing, but it's tough not to feel exhilarated by its artistry when the credits begin to roll.

|It’s hard to fathom a movie with more hype behind it than The Dark Knight. This is the point where the comic book movie has truly come into its own, surpassing the usual boundaries to become something more. It’s impossible to give full credit to anyone here, although names can certainly be tossed out as to who made this more special than it would have been without them. It’s not a perfect film by any stretch, but it’s a great thrill ride....read the full review|

Customer Reviews of Batman- The Dark Knight (Blu-ray)
Batman channels Plato's Republic1/3/2013
Rarely has a film left me speechless, much less a comic book inspired film. Christopher Nolan's rendition of the DC comic character has. "THE DARK KNIGHT" may well be the best comic book film I have ever seen. Christopher Nolan, along with Jonathan Nolan has crafted a screenplay of nearly unbelievable proportions. The duo has taken the "Batman" mythos and has turned it into their own.
Amazing movie, but received bootleg copy6/25/2012
This movie is amazing, but it seems to me that I have received a bootleg bluray. The box is very cheap looking and there are some pen marks in the back. I put the movie in and it keeps changing from fullscreen to widescreen and there's no DVD menu. It just starts the movie as soon as I put the bluray in. The only thing good is the sound.
Tha Dark Knight - Awesome Cinema at its best!!!6/18/2012
Just received this2-disc special feature box, in a Batman Mask-shaped case, along with a digital copy. I hadn't expected this special box so that was a very pleasant surprise! Can't say anything about the movie that hasn't been said already - BRay does absolute justice to Nolan's magic, and the scenes and cinamatography are simply spectacular. You can't go wrong with this product.
Not just a great Batman movie, a great movie period. This one is one of the best movies made in the last 5 years. Heath Ledger as the Joker is fantasic. Christian Bale shines as Batman once again. The action scenes are thrilling and there is some great dialog throughout.
Batman vs Blu Ray6/4/2012
How does Batman match up against one of his toughest opponents....Blu Ray!? Just as he did in every movie he killed the enemy! This movie is simply stunning in Blu Ray! If you are a collector of Blu Rays or just a collector of classic movies in general Batman is the movie for you! Everybody should have this instant classic!
Greatest Batman movie!!!4/5/2012
This is with out a doubt the greatest Batman movie. As great as this movie is Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker is way better, probably perfect. Ledger's portrayal of the Joker will forever make this a must own for me and anyone who hasn't seen this movie must watch it just to see how great the role was played.
It had a great plot... SPOILER ALERT: The Joker had a great costume, and the ending was great. The plot was great and it had a lot of action - beware: it contains a lot of fighting and is not suitable for young ages. it is a great, enjoyable movie for the adults and teens.
Best of all the Batman Movies2/9/2012
Rarely has a film left me speechless, much less a comic book inspired film. Christopher Nolan's rendition of the DC comic character has. "THE DARK KNIGHT" may well be the best comic book film I have ever seen. Christopher Nolan, along with Jonathan Nolan has crafted a screenplay of nearly unbelievable proportions. The duo has taken the "Batman" mythos and has turned it into their own; what results is a film that captures the essence of the comic book and combines it to a truly gripping and engaging psychological crime drama-action-adventure. You heard that right, a psychological crime drama and an adventure.
Best comic adaption!7/1/2011
What has been said about the Dark Knight cannot be elaborated on - so I won't. The film is muscling its way into my #1 favorite comic movie adaptation of all time. A great film - you will not be dissapointed; I just wish the studio would have given a better Special Edition release than what we have here. So enjoy!
