What child doesn''t imagine being able to fly? Well, Bear is no different. When he sees seagulls at the beach whirling and diving, he must learn how. Luckily, there are four children who know exactly how to make that happen: Take a trip to an amusement park and play on all the rides. "Swoopy swoopy swoopitty swoop"!

An exhilarating story that showcases Rosen''s signature lyrical style, "Bear Flies High" is another perfect read-aloud with a familiar and lovable character.

From the Publisher:
Wishing he could fly like the seagulls at the beach, Bear is thrilled when his four thoughtful friends come up with the perfect plan to make his dream come true: a trip to the amusement park to play on an assortment of rides and high-flying machines!Wishing he could fly like the seagulls at the beach, Bear is thrilled when his four thoughtful friends come up with the perfect plan to make his dream come true: a trip to the amusement park to play on an assortment of rides and high-flying machines.Wishing he could fly like the seagulls at the beach, Bear is thrilled when his four thoughtful friends come up with the perfect plan to make his dream come true: a trip to the amusement park to play on an assortment of rides and high-flying machines.
Annotation:
Flying like a seagull sounds just fabulous to Bear, and he very much wants to fly, too. Sadly, this isn't really possible, but the kids show him a close second that will be just as fun: amusement park rides! Which ride can take Bear the highest? With lovely illustrations, this is a companion book to BEAR'S DAY OUT.

Praise

"[Reynolds's] use of color is excellent, and slanting lines guide the eye along, whether the children are leading the bear up a hill in the daylight or down a road at dusk. The fiery orange-red of the setting-sun sky in the last spread makes the skipping children and bear seem up close and looking as if they're flying right into readers' laps." 02/01/2010
