|Create an ultrafast HD entertainment network through your home’s electrical wiring* |
Imagine reliably sending HD movies from the Internet directly to your home theater system through just the wires already in your home. No need for special wiring. With Belkin's Gigabit Powerline HD starter kit, it is that simple. Connect one Adapter to an existing home router and then simply plug it into the wall outlet. Then plug a second Adapter into an available wall outlet and connect the other end to computers, gaming consoles or home theater system.
Note: *Networking router not included **The standard transmission rate—1000Mbps—is the ideal physical data rate. Actual data throughput and distance will be lower, depending on interference, network traffic, building materials, and other conditions.
Customer Reviews of Belkin Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit
These adapters are easy to set up, after connected - everything works perfect. Recommend to everyone.
Not as fast as expected.4/10/2013
Easy to install, but it's not as fast as expected.
Maybe you'll have better luck.3/28/2013
It could be the wiring in my house, but I have less than the max and these didn't work. They couldn't keep a connection and I tried multiple places. If I could get a connection I was getting <1 Mbs download where I usually get ~25Mbs. Oddly, I still got ~6 Mbs upload which is normal. Also, they get a lot warmer than I was expecting making me think they burn a lot of electricity.
Great Product that has alot of potential.3/21/2013
The product works great most of the time. I find myself having to reset the modem and routers (I am running two routers with these in between) often, but this is still a great advantage to not having the WiFi or Internet hardwire attachment at all. I think as we move into the future, the bugs will gradually be worked out of these products.
Slower than old 200Mbps unit, True!3/14/2013
I tested it then unpluged it. I planed to replace my 200MB units with this kit. I found out it's 40-50% slower than my old Netgear 200MB units. The speed of this Belkin Gigabit Powerline HD Starter Kit is like the first generation of powerline adapter. I'm still using my Netgear units, the Belkin kit is collecting dust on my storage shelf now.
Definitely no where near the speed stated but good enough.
I have not yet used the equipment, but I already own the exact same hardware, so this will be used to expand my home network. I'm excited to use it. It was a great value.
Great deal, but no slam dunk10/25/2012
Few of these powerline adapters are gigabit. Unfortunately I couldn't get close to that speed. As with all network devices, rated speed is more than actual due to overhead, but your electrical wiring is what really counts here. I never thought ours was questionable, but it's hard to rate. Also depends on how "noisy" other appliances are. Just be careful with your expectations! You might get the highest speed, but at least you'll get better than wireless (hopefully!).
Gigabit? Slower than old 200Mbps unit it replaced5/23/2012
Of course, your mileage will vary with anything labeled "gigabit", but I was expecting some speed increase compared to the something labeled as 200Mbps. Out of the box the units were 20% slower than the 200Mbps unit they replaced. After upgrading the firmware (requires a Windows system, which luckily I had holding down some papers) they were still 10% slower than my older units.
Constant disconnects and slow transfer speeds.5/23/2012
I saw that this item was on sale so I decided to go ahead and purchase it to replace my current Netgear 200mbps kit. I tried playing an online game first and noticed that it would lag every few minutes. I then pinged Google.com for about 5 minutes and noticed it would lose connection ever 10-15th ping. I did try updating the firmware but that didn't help at all. File transfers were slow and streaming movies would just stutter the whole time. I will keep what I have for now. Not recommended.
Didn't work for me5/22/2012
Don't order a set unless you trust the return policy of the seller. In a 26 year old condo unit I could only get it to function in the same room as the router and one other room, which was unfortunately not the room I needed it to work in. Even then it didn't work with automatic DHCP configuration; I had to set a manual address. Even then I had to try several addresses, all within the range of my router, before finding one that worked. Also, it is poorly designed in that the function lights are only visible if you lie down on the floor to look at them straight on, and even then they are too small to be useful. Another in my unbroken string of disappointments from Belkin.
Good price=Bad performance5/10/2012
Purchased 2 and had to return within 2 days after it failed to stream HD movies from my computer to TV.
Unpacked.. plugged into wall outlets... hooked up devices .. ready to go... good speeds and for that price I'd say this was a great buy. Have had this product for a week now only though. So far so good!
Tons of bad reviews, but my experience has been gr5/13/2011
I was hesitant to purchase this, but figured I would try it out and return it if it failed to meet my needs. I am streaming media from a NAS stored in my front office, to my HTPC stored in my living room. Wireless was lagging and movies would buffer every 10 minutes or so, YouTube videos were worthless, and large file transfers would need to be started before bedtime since they took so long. I own a house 1 year old house that is nearly 3000 sq ft and is two stories, so running cat5 through the walls and ceiling were not an option. I plugged the first adapter to the wall near my router in the office, and the second adapter into the wall on the complete opposite side of the house in my living room. I immediately got blue lights, did a test transfer of a 1.8 GB file which took less than 4 minutes to complete. Movies stream without a hitch, and internet streaming (Netflix, Youtube, etc) is flawless and crystal clear. I guess I lucked out, but this was the perfect solution to my problem.
