Customer Reviews of Berserk V01-War Cry
One hilarious bonus feature on all of the Berserk shows is the Outtakes. Basically, it is a series of line reading errors placed over the same scene in the original anime scenes. Watch them after viewing all of the episodes on the DVD, so that u understand the context, but they are truly hilarious. you will like this.
masterpiece of Kentarou Miura12/12/2012
This series is definitely not for children. The story is of a mercenary named Guts and set in a world similar to Lodoss War, but with fewer fantastic creatures and different odd races (most all of the characters are human, with a few exceptions). Do not expect to see a bunch of elves and dwarves and dragons, the non-human characters are few and far between through the first 5 episodes.
I didn't have the highest expectations for this series, however I was very surprised. The first episide is a little lame, typical low budget anime - dark hero, crazy monster boss, blood and action. But after that first episode, it all changes. The story is amazingly in-depth and grabbed my attention and won't let go. Now I can't wait for the next episodes. And even more surprising is the English dubbing is excellent. Excellent voice acting. Also, don't forget to watch the outakes, they are side-splitting!
The Greatest Anime Of All Time5/14/2002
That's a pretty big title to wear, but, in my opinion Berserk is a masterpiece of Japanese anime. It's been a long time since i've seen a series where i couldn't wait to get to the next episode. The characters are well developed, and the relationships between them are well flushed out as well. This anime has a great story, and excellent action as well. But, be aware, I really wouldn't recommend this for anyone under the age of 18. The world of Berserk very much like the Medival age that it's set in. Dark and war torn. You will see blood freely flowing in this anime. However, this is a true anime fans dream come true. A spellbinding story!!! A must-have for your anime DVD collection!
