Reliable Modem, but not for FAXing
Having learned online that the Apple cable modem can be very unreliable, I ordered this modem for my 2 year old Mac Mini PPC, OS X 10.4.11 & OS 9 and a dial-up connection. The first one (same model) I used lasted 2 years, then bombed. Received this within 3 days after ordering, installed the driver, and I was back in business. Having a rare occasion to need to FAX something, I installed the FAX program included in the CD, but found that it was for OS9 only and was not recognized or operable on Mac Classic. Bottom line: There are FEW USB modems available for Mac OS X. This one is speedy even on rural dialup connection and the cost is ok. But if you want to FAX as well, you may be outta luck. I find it puzzling why Best Data does not provide OS X Fax support with it.
