Smartone VCC100 software limited
The Smartone VCC100 card is a stripped down version of a TV tuner/image capture model. BestData web site indicates two versions, one with a Rockwell 848 chip and a second with a Conexant 878A Chip. Review of the supplied drivers imply only 848 support for the 878 chip (delivered). The package describes two RCA video inputs but the card has only one video input and a split out audio, alleged from composite video input. Documentation further shows acceptance of standard camcorder signal, but only for video, no s-video. Card worked with single video input. Support software described as able to support sequence re-arrangements, background changes, morphing and texture editing is non-existent. The supplied software CD provided minimal device drivers, and a pseudo TV controller program. Installation of drivers from autorun CD menu did not work. Failed on path, apparently due to menu targeted for 878 chip, but driver is actually for 848. Install of TV program worked and provided very good display quality at maximum resolution, but utility is dubious since no tuner exists on the card. For low minimal cost and basic funtionality, the card is acceptable providing good 30fps at 640x480. But, be advised that software is very limited and home website support is less. Video/audio editing software must be provided from other sources.
