Annotation:
Addie Downs and Valerie Adler were best friends until the swirling currents of adolescence swept them into different cliques. Fifteen years later, Valerie (a beautiful TV weather girl) and Addie (a plain Jane seeking love on the Internet) are leading very separate lives, but fate soon thrusts them together once again. When a hysterical Valerie shows up on Addie's doorstep with blood on her clothes, it marks the beginning of a hilarious set of adventures that will bring the two friends closer together as they try to keep their distance from the law.
Author Bio
Jennifer Weiner
While Jennifer Weiner's novels are not often accorded lengthy, respectful reviews in serious literary outlets, she is one of the world's most popular writers of contemporary women's fiction, and her books make frequent appearances on the bestseller list. "You realize you're making certain trade-offs when your first book is called GOOD IN BED and there's naked legs and cheesecake on the cover," she has said. "I wish I'd known [when I started] it's okay to be called ?a delightful beach romp.' Lots of people want to read a delightful beach romp." Weiner was born on an army base in Louisiana and moved with her family to Connecticut when she was a toddler. After earning a bachelor's degree in English from Princeton University in 1991, she embarked on a career in journalism, writing op-ed pieces and celebrity profiles, among other assignments. In the wake of a bitter romantic breakup, Weiner wrote GOOD IN BED, whose zaftig heroine, Cannie Shapiro, is humiliated when her boyfriend pens a magazine article titled "Loving a Larger Woman." Published in 2001, the novel was an immediate hit, and Weiner's subsequent books have enjoyed similar success. IN HER SHOES (2002), the tale of two squabbling sisters and their feisty grandmother, was adapted as a film starring Toni Collette, Cameron Diaz and Shirley MacLaine in 2004, and Weiner was also the creator of the ABC sitcom The Great State of Georgia, which aired in 2011. Many interviewers have commented that the writer is the type of funny, empathetic, and outgoing person who would make a fabulous best friend. That observation, she has quipped, makes her real best friend "roll her eyes. Hard."

Praise

"[T]he thing I enjoy most about Weiner's books is their familiarity -- how her characters' concerns, jokes, insecurities and even homes feel like real life, or at least the embarrassingly tame version lived by average middle-class moms like me." - Claudia Deane 07/22/2009

"The novel is a welcome addition to the author's collection of tales about strong, clever women who carve their own niche in this world -- much like Weiner has....Themes of [her] previous novels play into BEST FRIENDS FOREVER -- weight issues, unexpected news, even murder mysteries -- but the similarities aren't necessarily bad when the original material is so good." - Hannah Sampson 08/04/2009

"I'm not lending this book to anybody. It's a keeper....[W]hat sets BEST FRIENDS FOREVER apart from its predecessors and earns it a place on my treasured "reread as needed" shelf is its tough emotional wisdom. If there are any doubts that a work of mere 'chick lit' can be deeply revelatory, BEST FRIENDS FOREVER should banish them." - Maureen Corrigan 08/02/2009

"In [the flashback] sections, Weiner's writing shines, as she provides the emotional foundation of the book....Weiner has a deft touch in creating an endearing main character that readers want to follow." - Johnny Diaz 11/16/2009
