|BitDefender Antivirus 2008 provides you with state of the art proactive protection against viruses, spyware, phishing attacks, rootkits, and more for up to 3 PCs AND 2 Years of coverage.|
Proactive Protection from: Malware (Viruses, Trojans, Worms, and other threats). BitDefender actively protects your PC from all types of malicious code. Web traffic is filtered even before reaching your browser, for a safe and enjoyable web experience. Messaging and peer-to-peer applications are also monitored to help prevent viruses from spreading.
Spyware and Adware. Based on a comprehensive spyware signature database, BitDefender blocks spyware threats in real-time, before they can damage your system. It also monitors dozens of potential “hotspots” where spyware might act, and checks for any changes made to your system and software.
Unknown Viruses. BitDefender has developed B-HAVE (Behavioral Heuristic Analyzer in Virtual Environments), a new technology designed to detect and block new and unknown threats without the need for an update. By analyzing the behavior of potentially malicious software inside a virtual computer, this technology eliminates false positives and significantly increases detection rates.
Hidden Threats (Rootkits). BitDefender looks for and removes rootkits, malicious programs designed to control your computer, while staying hidden.
Phishing Attacks. Blocks malicious websites trying to trick you into revealing personal information, such as financial data.
To address gamers’ needs BitDefender 2008 introduces the Gamer Mode, a "profile" or a collection of protection settings chosen by experts at the BitDefender Labs in order to keep the product’s impact low and the game, safe. The Gamer Mode profile can be used with any game and it can be turned on with just one click. This mode allows achieving three goals that are essential to a smooth gaming experience: minimized system load, zero demands on the network connection and no interruptions.
Usually used Live One Care but got fed up with the constant updates. Bit Defender does the job just as well. Oh and wotks with Vista 64 Bit with no problems whatsoever.
DO NOT BUY!8/15/2008
This is a horrible product. It taxes your system and doesn't work on top of it. Then when you uninstall, it doesn't uninstall totally. I bought this in June '08, and have uninstalled today. Will never use again. 2 years? isn't worth a day! Please do not buy. I originally reviewd this when I bought it. I had it on my laptop and desk top. Do yourself a favor and stay away from it. You can try it, but after it's been on your system, you'll have security bugs. Everytime I restart my computer, I have to restart my current AV and Windows Defender. BEWARE!
I like its features and all but one thing disappoints me is it doesn't support anything OS before XP SP2. So make sure your system is with SP2, otherwise, don't buy this.
Bang for the buck7/5/2008
Well I tried all of them from Norton,Avast,CA,Mcafee, plus AVG and Kaspersky and this is one of the best because of low system requirements and because my computer does not slow down because of it. The interface is actually the good thing about this program because its not bulky and it does not have too many worthless features. Green means your protected and red means your not it is that simple some may like more features but in this case less is more. It has a built in spyware and malware remover so you do not need an extra program for spyware plus the 2 year subscription is icing in the cake.
Better than Norton Anti-virus3/23/2008
If you're sick and tired of your PC running like a snail because of Norton antivirus slowng it down then BitDefender is for you. My laptop was taking a very loooong time to finish booting after the Windows XP splash screen appears because Norton was busy doing "stuff", like staring up Norton services, that I learned on the internet security forums, are not necessarily needed. Norton has become too fat and bloated. BitDefender is lean and mean... not only is my laptop booting up much faster, but my intial scan found three email bourne viruses still in the attachments of saved mail that Norton did not detect. I also became tired of Norton's expensive subscription renewals, I bought a BitDefender 3 user, 2 year license version for the same price Norton wanted for one 1 yr subscription renewal for one subscription on their 3 user version. Norton makes you buy 3 subscriptions, don't know what BitDefender will do when my 2 years are up... but it will probably be cheaper to repurchase anyway and get a newer version as well. I see that there is some complaints about support... that just seems to be what the norm is these days from many software vendors. I can tell you that my last My last experience with Norton support wasn't any more pleasant, and was one of the reasons I started looking for an alternative AV software.
It was easy to install and the gaming mode was a nice added bonus. A lot more than I expected especially with the great price from buy.com.
As a college professor, I’ve downloaded and opened hundreds of files created on my students’ computers. With that said, I’ve encountered virus after virus on my PC. Since switching to Bitdefender, my computer has been working flawlessly!
Only Nerds Write Reviews3/3/2008
I was suprised to see any negative comments about BitDefender technical support. I bought the product after seeing theBestBuy award with PC World magazine, after my good experiance (it found some viruses Norton didnt) I have told friends and coworkers about it and they all seemed as pleased as I am. Just thought I would throw my 2 cents in for what its worth. BitDefender is way better than any other AV I have tried.
I've heard some good things about BitDefender from friends at work and decided to try their software. What's surprising is that it doesn't slow my system down. I have used some of the larger brands and found that at startup and opening email, they slowed my system down.
I love BitDefender it seems to be the best value for the price other than using something free that dosent update. I have no Vista issues like the other reviewer but he seems to be reviwing the older version that didnt support Vista based on the dates in his review. I found it work much better than Norton - set & forget in my situation.
Beware Vista Users1/3/2008
This Antivirus system will not always perform properly with Vista. 24/7 tech support is virtually non-existent and is apparently based in Romania. The Support agents will pretend they can't hear you (if using the 1-888 number) or will disconnect (when using the internet chat based sessions) when they cannot figure out your problem. They are also rude, and this leads me to believe they are aware of the Vista Incompatibility. The "No questions asked" refund is impossible to collect on, and they are trained to give customers the run-around. This is an actual quote from a Bitdefender 2008 technical support chat session (1/3/07): My IP Relay: **(sounds like laughing)** (sounds like sighing) My IP Relay: tell him too bad u bought the anti virus from romania
