Couldn't be easier!9/3/2012
Got this to convert old 8mm home movies to digital format. Simple to use and performs well. Only thing I would like to see different would be the ability to save in different formats. The device saves as MPEG-4 only and only to the desktop. Small quibbles though. If you want to convert your analog videos to digital, this is a great, simple device.
Sick of Price Controls11/19/2010
This is a Mac-only product. Also, you asked why it is so expensive? Because Blackmagic won't allow any dealer to sell their products even one cent cheaper than the price they dictate. That's why everybody's prices are the same. Welcome to the new America.
Not what expected1/15/2010
First, I wonder why this is so expensive. It really doesn't do much more than any other basic recorder that you can get for under $100. I purchased this item because I thought it recorded VHS to Quicktime mov format. Instead it is mp4 which does not work great with Final Cut Pro. I should have researched better. It does not let you select a destination folder. All captured videos go to your Desktop. You then have to create a new folder and move them later. It's not a big deal ... I just don't understand "why?". I think this product is OK if you want to post your videos to YouTube or iPod and are willing to spend more than it's worth. Very unhappy with their choice to go with mp4 format.
