||The eyes of America are on lawyer Joseph Antonelli as he takes on a politically sensitive case, in the sixth legal thriller in a series. Nearly forty years ago, Thomas Stern Browning's girlfriend, Annie Malraux, fell out of a window, and the death was judged an accident. Now Browning is Vice President of the United States, and an unknown political enemy has forced a reexamination of Annie's death. Browning calls upon San Francisco attorney Joseph Antonelli, a fellow classmate at Harvard Law, to defend Jimmy Havilland, the man who also loved Annie and is now accused of her murder. Antonelli agrees, fully aware that the outcome of the case has implications that extend far beyond Browning and Havilland's individual fates.
