The third installment of Dean Koontz's bestselling "Odd Thomas" series finds Thomas, now 21, confronted with visions of "bodach" spirits, shadowy creatures that portend acts of terrible violence. Now Thomas, along with Brother Knuckles (a Mafioso turned monk) and the other strange yet heroic members of St. Bart's monastery, must find a way to avert the coming danger. Koontz swaps in some of his trademark suspense to create a humorous and thoroughly entertaining supernatural novel. (from the first line)
Koontz''s beloved hero, who has triumphed in two "New York Times" bestsellers, seeks the solitude and peace of an isolated monastery as he tries to find a way to live fully again. But Odd Thomas has a knack for finding trouble, and must confront an enemy who eclipses any he has yet encountered.
From the Publisher:
Leaving Pico Mundo, the small desert town in which he has spent his life, Odd Thomas, a hero who lives between the living and the dead, seeks the peaceful solitude of an isolated monastery high in the western mountains, but he soon finds himself confronting an evil killer stalking the ancient, holy halls of his sanctuary. Reprint.

Author Bio
Dean R. Koontz
Along with Stephen King, Koontz is the preeminent horror writer of his age, selling millions and millions of books worldwide. Koontz had a horrific childhood; his father was an abusive alcoholic and his mother was mentally unstable, and they both actively discouraged him from pursuing a writing career. However, when the 12-year-old Koontz won an essay contest, the seed was planted. He studied education and was a high school English teacher from 1967 to 1969, at which point he began writing full time. At the end of the '90s, Dean Koontz has written nearly 80 books of suspense or horror.

Praise

"Bestseller Koontz's third Odd Thomas novel (after FOREVER ODD) offers an irresistibly offbeat mix of supernatural horror and laugh-out-loud humor." 10/30/2006
