a little overpriced but...12/11/2010
i think it a better value than the competition. It runs very quiet and cool compared to my iomega 2tb nas even though they both have seagate hdd's inside (wierd). the iphone app can only stream certain file types of video and have to be 10mb or less. i can stream 10gb mkv's smoothly using a wired connection but can't stream mkv's wirelessly. the power saving mode is a joke, it can be set to always on or only on when a computer on the network is on (which is always for me atleast). The settings menu is a bit difficult to navigate and sloppy but hopefully firmware updates fix that. even though the 2bay nas from buffalo is the same price i think its small size, cold to the touch and noiseless operation make it worth the price.
replacement unit defective also11/18/2010
I was transfering from a 500gb buffalo onto the replacement V2.0 Pro 2TB unit, just like before, and at about 200GB it locked up just like the first one, I called Buffalo and they told me this is a new unit and the tech did not have any info, and that he was going to talk to engineering about this, he thinks its a firmware problem, but there is no new firmware available yet. I re-powered it last nite, and I connected to the web setup and it was still online, but it wasnt doing anything., So it must be a glitch when transfering to the unit causes it to lock up. I am waiting to hear from Buffalo tech support the guy said someone will call me back.
Goes DEAD after it warms up.11/10/2010
Setup my drive map shares, begain transfering files to this New V2.0 2TB Buffalo nas, and it locked up, even moving the power switch to off did not trigger the graceful shutdown procedure. Web access was offline at that point also. Unplugging power and it will boot back up, but seems to stay online longer if its not doing much. Called Buffalo tech support, they said it was defective, its on its way back to buy.com for a replacement.
