Customer Reviews of Buffalo Technology AirStation N300 Wireless Router & AP
Excellent router, works very well5/17/2012
Can be used as a router or a simple access point it has a switch for operation mode. It has a stronger signal strength and further range than other routers I have used.
I bought this item based on the feedbacks. I'm an IT guy. The setup and configuration was extremely easy, I didn't use the CD at all. I have my VOIP phone, Wii, 5 computers, wireless Epson ARTISON 800, netflix boxes all running at the same-time and using Wireless "G".
Setup for me was a bear but once done, it's phenom9/24/2011
I buy cheap routers (usually refurbs under $20) and configure them for fun. Yes, I have no life. I'm also a noob. I bought this Buffalo because I'd heard great things about them. I did get a refurbished one for $17 plus shipping from another vendor. Setup was a nightmare. I tried using the setup wizard but it would not connect to my ISP's servers (Charter cable). I should have called tech support but wanted to figure this out on my own. After hours of grueling trial and error, I looked on the Internet/LAN page and there was a radio button that said Acquire an IP Address Automatically from a DHCP Server. Lo and behold, I selected that option, hit apply and within 10 seconds was up and running. It's a super stable platform and I've had no disconnects or anything negative. I selected the 40MHz under wireless settings and get 300MB connection to my notebook. Note, you may have to go into your wireless adapter's settings to make it available to receive 40MHz. Mine was set to 20MHz which would have only given me 150Mbps connectivity. I can't blame anyone but myself for setup issues but once it's setup, it's incredible. No gaming lag (XBOX wired), streams Netflix with no problems and has a strong WiFi signal compared to other brands I've tried. It's dd-WRT flashable as well but I just used the stock firmware. It shipped with the latest firmware installed but has an auto-update option which is great, too.
I actually have a couple of Buffalo routers in use to help cover 2 buildings. I have the high power version in the main building next to the dsl modem and I have this one in the other building setup as a wireless repeater! I'm not kidding, this thing is packed with features and that probably makes it a bit more complicated for beginners to setup. Keep this in mind, but if you want something that will work without rebooting every month and can be used for more than just a basic router, this is a great buy!
I recently purchased this router to replace a spotty linsky (that finally died RIP). It works wonderfully and I am very pleased. Setup was not as easy as the instructions said, but I have yet bought a router I haven't had to call customer support for help:). the signal is strong throughout my 2 story townhome. Now, I have to call back to reset my wi-fi printers.
Has been working flawlessly3/17/2009
I bought this Buffalo product after experiencing repeated problems with Linksys routers. The initial setup was a little different from the Linksys routers that I am used to, but I got the router up and running in about an hour. It has been working flawlessly since. My old Linksys routers needed to be periodically rebooted, since they would lock up after moving large amounts of data (streaming video, for example). The Buffalo router seems to have no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend this product!
