Author Bio
Bill Peet
Bill Peet (born William Bartlett Peed) graduated from the John Heron Art Institute, after which he worked as an illustrator for a greeting card company. Peet soon moved to California, where he began working as an animator for the Walt Disney Company; his work appears in such films as FANTASIA and 101 DALMATIANS (for which he also wrote the screenplay). Peet had a contentious relationship with his boss, Walt Disney, and in his autobiography even claims to have based his drawings of Captain Hook, the villain in Disney's animated film PETER PAN, on his much disliked employer. Peet's first picture book, HUBERT'S HAIR-RAISING ADVENTURE, was published in 1959. In addition to his many popular picture books, he also wrote his autobiography for children, BILL PEET: AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY.
