I started watching this show in the middle of Season 2, and I really like it. The characters are very clever, funny, and likable. The premise of the show is different from any I have watched before, and it is nice to have something original to watch. Read More

Product Overview

Covert intelligence operative Michael Westen has been punched, kicked, choked and shot. Now he's being burned, and someone's going to pay! When Michael receives a "burn notice", blacklisting him from the intelligence community and compromising his very identity, he must track down a faceless nemesis without getting himself killed in the process. Meanwhile, Michael is forced to double as a private investigator on the dangerous streets of Miami in order to survive.

Fully loaded with sly humor, Burn Notice is a fresh spin on the spy genre with plenty of precarious twists to keep you guessing and enough explosive action to keep you riveted!

Editors Note
Note When intelligence agencies need to dispense with one of their spies they serve a burn notice. A burn notice informs other agencies that the spy has become unreliable, effectively ending his or her career. The USA Network's BURN NOTICE follows Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan), whose intelligence career comes to an abrupt halt after a botched job in Nigeria. Westen returns home to Miami, Florida, only to discover that he has been cut off from all his contacts in the agency and his bank account has been frozen. Without a penny to his name, Westen decides to work as an unlicensed private investigator, using the money he makes to launch his own investigation into his fate with the intelligence agency.^Westen's new career presents him with plenty of opportunities to delve into Miami's seedy underbelly, with drug dealers, gunrunners, prostitution rings, and gangsters all coming under his watchful eye. A strong supporting cast includes Gabrielle Anwar (SCENT OF A WOMAN) as Westen's ex-girlfriend and former IRA agent Fiona Glenanne; Bruce Campbell (THE EVIL DEAD) as Sam Axe, an aging lothario who is Westen's only remaining connection with the intelligence world; and Sharon Gless (CAGNEY & LACEY) as Westen's overbearing mother, Madeline. Vital clues into Westen's burn notice are revealed as the film progresses, and he often has to use all his ingenuity, including some intricate skills with electronic devices, to find the answers. This release includes every episode from the first season of the show.

Review In "Burn Notice," USA delivers a pleasant surprise, if only because so little about the concept indicates how much fun the 90-minute premiere is. Recognizing the star quality in Jeffrey Donovan (last showcased in the channel's short-lived 2004 drama "Touching Evil"), he returns as a spy who, for unexplained reasons, suddenly can't come in from the cold and must survive on his wits. Graced with a sly voiceover and strong supporting characters, it's the kind of breezy romp that dovetails nicely with the cabler's most popular fare and which manages to look more effortless than it surely is...What really sparks "Burn Notice" is Donovan's Rockford-like mix of comedy, action and roguish charm, augmented by a dry narration through which he delivers a kind of "how-to" guide to spying -- explaining his preference for fighting in bathrooms, for example, because they have "lots of hard surfaces" into which one can slam an opponent; it's easier on the knuckles...USA has labored to replicate the wry rewards of "Monk" in fulfilling its "Characters welcome" campaign, and if the network can market a series graced with an understated premise and mediocre title, "Burn Notice" comes closer than most of its recent offerings to achieving that whimsical tone, featuring a leading man who lives up to the slogan -- one with charisma to burn.
