"Clean Out Your Guns, Dust Off Your Mecha, 'Cause This is One Explosive Experience You Don't Want to Miss."
A new law has been passed in Tokyo...ordinary people are now allowed to freely carry firearms. Crime has turned citizens against each other in a fight for survival on the city's mean streets. Thanks to the Recent Armed Police of Tokyo, the arrest rate is going down. After all, the only prison a dead man needs is a hole in the ground.

RAPT is taking away jurisdiction from local authorities quicker than they can draw their guns. In these dark times, an angel arrives on Earth. No one is sure if she came from up above or down below, but with her partners Sei, Amy and Meg, Jo's the best chance this town's got.

Contains episodes 1-4: Hell Comes Silently, The Heartless Gunfighter, City Where the Beast Howls, and The Brothers Die at Dawn!

Editor's Note
The genre-bending anime series BURST ANGEL blends sci-fi, action, comedy, and even a touch of spaghetti Western into a thrilling girls-with-guns confection. In a futuristic Tokyo, a new law that allows citizens to openly carry guns has actually led to an increase in crime, and a shadowy organization known as RAPT (Recent Armed Police of Tokyo) actively encourages violence in order to profit from the chaos. Into this anarchic milieu stride a quartet of scantily-clad young women named Jo, Sei, Amy, and Meg, who attempt to bring a sense of order and justice to the lawless land with their gunslinging ways and leather chaps. Violent and sexy, this volume introduces the anime series with the first four episodes.

Professional Reviews

Toon Zone 9 of 10
Burst Angel is yet another in a long line of girls with guns anime series trying to recapture the magic of 80s classic Dirty Pair. And it does an admirable job, adding giant robots and monsters to the familiar mix. Though frankly, I hardly noticed them as my eyes must have been somewhere else...Fast-paced John Woo-style lead slinging is the order of the day, but there's also a healthy amount of goofy comedy, a tiny amount of severely overstretched spandex, and even a hint of drama. It's never very deep, but usually a lot of fun...Although set at least several decades in the future, Burst Angel offers a very realistic portrayal of many aspects of today's Japan...Burst Angel's cel animation is attractive and smooth. The attention to background detail is fantastic, and there's a lot of neat mechanical design...The opening theme is a cheesy Japanese rap number, but most of the score is very catchy, ranging from rock to Sergio Leone western material...If you're a Dirty Pair fan you can't help but be won over by Burst Angel. - Chris Wood
