Customer Reviews of Canon CanoScan 9000F Color Image Scanner
Great scanner for the money. Replaced a 10 year old Epson that died. It cost almost $600 and the Canon has better resolution and features at a fraction of the price. Like the ability to scan transparencies and negatives. Beach Camera rules!!!!
This scanner is pretty quick, has accurate color, and the software is relatively easy to use. I
I have set as a lifetime project the scanning of the boxes and boxes of old photos we have collected over many years. I ordered the CanoScan 9000F and am delighted with the results. It scans quickly, quietly, and has excellent color replication.
Best Home Scanner5/18/2012
For the price, this scanner has it all. You will find the highest resolution in a sub $200 scanner at 9600x9600. Like all of the scanners in this collection, this scanner will scan slides and negatives with an included transparency adapter.
Easy to use5/15/2012
Easy set-up on both Mac and Windows. Almost instant warm-up and quick scans at 600 dpi (the maximum for non-film). Only manually integration with Adobe PS Elements.
Canoscan 9000f nothing better for the price!5/12/2012
I have been doing digital and standard photography for years. I have used tons of different scanners over the years on pcs macs unix etc. This is one great scanner and the industry support is excellent. I. Have been scanning 35mm slides, film, 120 negatives and positives. I have found nothing I do not like. It has decent speed and the color and bit depth are outstanding. My slides, film, etc are 60 years old and this does an outstanding job. Great price too. Best I found and free shipping!
The scanner I purchase works fine.
I shot slides for 20 years before I purchased a DSLR. I have approx. 10,000 slides with no way to show them unless someone came to my home and I set up the slide projector. With the 9000F,I am transfering selected slides to my computer and don't seem to get any loss of quality. I can correct copies of slides now, including making old slides that may have faded, look like new again. And the scanner comes with Photoshop Elements 8. It is a flatbed scanner that will also copy negative film.
Inexpensive,good quality,great job Cannon!!!12/31/2010
For $150 can't go wrong.Performs very well.So far scanned 500+ films.People complaining about picture not being sharp etc need to realize that old films from cheap cameras didnt have very good focusing capabilities(focus was preset and couldn't be changed)so your digital scans will not be as sharp as pictures taken by digital camera.Use included software to edit pics-it really works very well!!!
Great job with Black/White and Color film11/5/2010
I've had the scanner for two weeks and am very happy with the results of scanning 300+ very old (50-60 year old) black/white and color negatives so far. I used Autoscan for the standard size formats (35 mm color and 120 medium density b/w) and advanced mode in Scan Gear for the non-standard sizes. It took a while to figure out what settings to use in advanced mode, but it did a great job, especially removing dust, scratches, and fade from a number of the negatives. I've also used the scanner for regular document and photo scanning and it performs well. Overall, I'm very pleased with the Canoscan 9000F performance although I wish there were better instructions for using the scanner driver (Scan Gear).
Fast and competent scanner9/2/2010
Having the LED light source means never waiting for it to warm up. Scanning documents to a pdf file took me about 7 sec. per page and was extremely easy - just push buttons on the scanner. Adjusting the settings while scanning slides took a bit of work, but their scanner software has a good human interface, and is intelligent enough to only scan the places in the slide holder that you have filled. I thought the colors on slide scans were quite good, and I'm very happy with the quality of the resulting images. The scanner and the provided software work great on a Mac.
Fabulous performer in this price range!8/18/2010
I sold my Epson V750-M Pro to get the CanoScan 9000F instead. I'll divide my review into three categories: speed, quality, and user interface. ____ SPEED: I just couldn't get around to scanning anything with the V750 because the wait with every scan is just agonizing. It sounds like it has to rev up its engine every time. On the other hand, The speed and agility of the 9000F are impressive. I place several pictures at a time on the glass to scan, and the software lets you independently select the settings for each picture, mixing resolutions and corrections. Then it goes and scans each one separately. And because the LED light requires no warm-up time, it works immediately you can just get so much done! I scanned over 150 pictures in the first few days of having this scanner -- more than I did in the two years I had the Epson. _____ QUALITY: The V750 is a professional grade scanner (hence the almost $800 price tag) does a slightly better job with dust and scratch removal using Digital ICE. The 9000F uses FARE, which works well, but seems to not be quite as effective. Scans on the 9000F tend to be slightly more blue, but you can tweak that correction easily. ______ INTERFACE: The user interface is a bit clugey (is that how you spell it?), but it does everything it needs to, and while you're scanning a large number of pics it stores them in its own catalog until you're finished, then saves the files in one single sweep. The software seems to not retain some settings (I keep having to uncheck a box to create subfolders by scan date), but overall works very well. _____ CONCLUSION: If I had to choose on one hand between having the best scanner (V750) and never using it, and on the other hand having a great scanner (9000F) and using it like crazy, I would definitely take Option B. I highly recommend the 9000F for its beautiful design, easy setup, very good scanning quality, easy photo correction settings, ability to scan several pics at once, and impressive speed!
Slides Come Alive Again!8/17/2010
I love this scanner - I am not a whiz at any computer stuff - but it was easy to install and preview 4 slides at a time, pick the ones you want to scan- so it serves as a preview. I have only scanned about 100 slides- they are turning out great. Adobe Elements comes w/the purchase and it is far better than my freebie programs- but takes some getting used to and the commands are a mystery-needs definitions with the commands. I havent had time to edit much- but the ones I tried turned out good. I havent figured out how to clean up dirty slides- would love some clues on that.. all in all - I am happy with the purchase. It arrived fast and no problems with shipping.
