Scan on network is an issue.
First this printer as printer and copier is perfect right out of the box. Scanning is an issue if you use it on network. You have to use USB cable if want to use scanner uninterruptedly. Here is the issue I had with the scanner. I setup this All-in one copier on network, very easy to setup over the network use for printer. I installed the scanner software, which the manual is not clear I will get back to it later. I scanned first page over the network using the scanning software with no problem and very smooth. Now I tried to scan another document (as seperate job) using the same procedure as before and then I get error message says "the network timed out". So if i have to scan another document on the scanner, via network, I have to turn of the printer and turn on and do the scanning. I spoke to Canon tech support the guy step me thorough setting up static IP address still the same problem and finally he asked me to use USB cable instead. If you use USB cable to scan the scanner works perfect. Now I have this All-in one hooked up with network and USB for smooth operation. About the scanner software nowhere in the manual says install the scanner software tools like PRESTO or Scan Soft’s Omni Page software. I spent 30 minutes before I looked into the contents of the CD that came with the copier. All the manual says is use the scan software and do the scanning, but what software and where is it don’t talk about and product name. If you guys have luck using scanner without any problem on network I would love to know and fix mine.
