Enhancing home and small office operation, Canon’s imageCLASS D480 provides all-mode duplex capabilities for printing, copying, scanning and faxing. With this duplexing capability, customers will be able to significantly reduce paper consumption by duplex printing documents from a PC, or on incoming faxes. The unit also allows users to copy single-sided pages to double-sided output. Through the device’s 50-sheet duplex automatic document feeder (DADF), output is easily duplex printed for a more streamlined office workflow.
The imageCLASS D480 provides network capabilities in an affordable compact package. It can be connected to a network through the 10/100 Base T network, so everyone can easily share printing, PC faxing and scanning directly from their PC.
Smart Paper Handling:
The D480 boasts print and copy speeds of up to 23 pages-per-minute (ppm) for letter-sized output, and delivers Quick First Prints or copy pages in approximately nine seconds. Load paper easily in the 250-sheet paper cassette and your black and white output comes out crisp and fast. Through the device's 50-sheet duplex automatic document feeder (DADF), double sided output is handled easily for a more streamlined office workflow. Reduce and enlarge, collate or make draft copies from the easy to use control panel.
The imageCLASS D480 prints sharp monochrome text with resolution up to 1200 x 600 dpi. Through use of the platen glass or the Duplex Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) color scans are captured in 24-bit color at an interpolated resolution of up to 9600 dpi. The new device also transmits documents seamlessly and quickly with Super G3 Fax, reaching speeds of approximately 33.6 Kbps. It features eight one-touch speed dial numbers, 100 coded speed dial numbers, 256-page memory capacity, PC Faxing, and two-sided duplex output to provide a robust fax solution in a compact desktop design.
Single Cartridge System:
The imageCLASS D480 also incorporates the Canon Single Cartridge System, which combines the toner and drum in one easy-to-replace unit, resulting in excellent image quality retention and eliminating the complication and warehousing of separate toner and drum consumables.

Canon MF ImageClass D480 is Awesome3/12/2012
Everything I have ordered from Adorama Camera has been shipped promptly and has functioned as advertised. It is satisfying to do business with professionals. This Canon ImageClass D480 is a super value, as it performs well locally and over Citrix connection using XenApp 6 64 Bit running on Windows Server 2008 R2. There are several name brand printers which do not like to work on Citrix at all. THANKS for offering quality products!
GREAT JOB AND PURCHASE2/22/2012
GREAT VALUE AND SUPER EASY SETUP. THE SOFTWARE INSTALLED LIKE A BREEZE. IT WORKS WITH WINDOWS 64 BIT NO PROBLEM. WOULD DEFINATELY RECOMMEND PRODUCT AND RESELLER.
I can't say enough bad things about this machine. The web interface looks like it was designed in 1994 and you can't even access 90% of the printer settings. Makes it extremely hard to have to walk up to the machine to tweak simple settings. I've worked with a lot of network multifunction and this is by far the worst web interface I've seen. No network scanning software is even included on the disc provided making it almost useless. The only positives are the print quality and speed. Outside of that, this machine is complete junk. I will never buy another Canon product. Oh, one more thing, the documentation is almost worthless. The paper manual constantly refers to you the e-manual. The e-manual refers you to the paper manual. How about you just make one complete user manual Canon?!!!!
For what we do it will pay for itself in 8 months!
Another Worst product from Buy.com5/4/2011
I opend the box and did the setup. It worked for the first 2-3days and thats it. It stopped working I thought there is some fault from my side and I have been trying all the ways but its failing. Now I tried contacting the customer support and they are asking me to contact the manufacturer. Another worst and defective piece from Buy.com. I think I should not buy from this site any more. I cannot do anything other than dumping this and total waste of money as well
Efficient and troublefree after initial setup. We've been using this multifunction on a small office network (never even plugged in USB) with not a single problem. We haven't even had to restart it in the 9 months we've had it. Only trick is that we installed all of the software on the CD on each PC. I don't remember the manual explaining this. We do have an HP multi-tray laser printer that performs most of our printing needs, but this Canon does manual and network faxing, occasional scanning, backup copying and serves as an auxillary printer when the HP is backed-up ... or out of order. To scan across the network, you have to first press the scanner button on the machine, then return to your PC and begin the scan from there. Also, we haven't figured out how to command it to feed paper specifically from the lower part of the tray or the manual feed slot.
The printer, copier and fax worked great out of box. Only scanning via network is a little tricky. You have to install your own TWAIN compatible scanning software as Canon only provides the TWAIN driver but not the scanning software.
Scan on network is an issue.2/28/2009
First this printer as printer and copier is perfect right out of the box. Scanning is an issue if you use it on network. You have to use USB cable if want to use scanner uninterruptedly. Here is the issue I had with the scanner. I setup this All-in one copier on network, very easy to setup over the network use for printer. I installed the scanner software, which the manual is not clear I will get back to it later. I scanned first page over the network using the scanning software with no problem and very smooth. Now I tried to scan another document (as seperate job) using the same procedure as before and then I get error message says "the network timed out". So if i have to scan another document on the scanner, via network, I have to turn of the printer and turn on and do the scanning. I spoke to Canon tech support the guy step me thorough setting up static IP address still the same problem and finally he asked me to use USB cable instead. If you use USB cable to scan the scanner works perfect. Now I have this All-in one hooked up with network and USB for smooth operation. About the scanner software nowhere in the manual says install the scanner software tools like PRESTO or Scan Soft’s Omni Page software. I spent 30 minutes before I looked into the contents of the CD that came with the copier. All the manual says is use the scan software and do the scanning, but what software and where is it don’t talk about and product name. If you guys have luck using scanner without any problem on network I would love to know and fix mine.
