This is a good addition to my office. It replaced my Canon MP530. However it has been a real task working with the scanning features. There seems to be too much interaction of moving between the PC and printer. I didn't have this issue with my old unit. There doesn't seem to be a way to just open the scanning app on the PC and do everything from the screen. All the other features work as expected.
I had been looking for a new printer for my home office for quite a while, and had shred away from most due to the cost of the printer and the cost of the ink. Man I have to say I was amazed at the low pricing on this item, especially with the name Canon associated with it. It's a great printer and very cheap per page to use.
Great Price for such a great product2/8/2014

Very fast and nice looking printer, just wish it was wifi ready. Print quality - fair. Copy, scan & printer output skews to the right. Install disk lacks printer driver for Mac, had to download most recent one from Canon website. Software also not very impressive. Returned printer for replacement that doesn't print crooked.
What an improvement over ink12/24/2013
Easy to set up, then fast & quiet. Since 90% of our home needs are black & white, I love using this new laser printer. Only drawbacks are that it is not wireless and it is bigger, but I knew this going in. Now I set up the old color ink printer in another area for the few times I need to print in color.
I have one of these already and I was so satisfied that I purchased another when I needed to replace another printer/scanner/copier. The best feature is that you can scan to a PDF from any PC on the network.
Excellent printer. I already have one and bought 2 more.
I bought this to replace an Epson that was always wanting a new ink cartridge, even when I didn't use the color settings. The Canon was a great choice for our home network use. It is connected to a router and we can print using WI/FI laptops. It wakes from an economy state to printing very fast. It is easy to use and setup. Output is excellent. The starter toner cartridge lasted way longer than I thought it would, although our home use is not very demanding. The only features I would like to have is duplex printing and being able to print to it from Google cloud devices.
Great Small Office Printer9/13/2013
I primarily purchased this printer for multi-page document scanning. It can handle big stacks of up to twenty pages at a time in the Automatic Document Feeder. The resolution is quite nice and the pages do not get jammed. There are some communication issues between the printer and the computer. Sometimes when entering a scan function into the printer, it will not start scanning until you manually start it on the computer application. Other than that, the printer side works great. Fast black and white printing, manual feed tray works, paper feeds easily, etc. Would definitely recommend.
good printer, could be better if there is wireless8/5/2013
This printer was everything it said it was. It prints fast and not noise. This is print would probably be better for small business. I bought this for my computers at home and the lack of the wireless feature really makes it difficult for me to print on multiple units.
Finally a decent printer7/10/2013
I was tired of ink jet printers, running out of ink all the time and getting printer jams too often. Since I needed for business use only, I didn't needed color printer. Cannon MF4700 is the best printer that I ever owned. It was very easy to set up. It is fast and have good printer quality. I don't know how much the replacement toner cartridge will cost, since I am still using the starter cartridge that the printer came with and I have used it a lot. I highly recommend it.

I bought this device because it will scan, fax, copy and print - everything needed for my home office - and I am just done with the whole ridiculously expensive 4C inkjet rigamarole. If I really need something in color I can always go to Kinko's or Target. I've yet to scan anything, but the other 3 features work great. Setup was pretty simple via ethernet cable connected to my router - but I only chose that method after I could not figure out how to connect via Wifi or USB cable (could be me.) The install instructions seem more geared for an IT guy at a company than for a home user. Nevertheless I am very happy with the results. As a plus, from the time I click the print button to getting the finished page is about 5 seconds - immense improvement over my previous Lexmark inkjet.
Doesn't work right. Had to call for assistance they can't fix it, will send back; when printing it keeps showing that there is paper jam, but no paper jam. Not pleased!
This is one great printer!6/29/2013
I bought this printer because my Kodak color printer was going threw ink so fast and the color was awful, so I decided to go back to black and white. The speed and crispness of the print is excellent and one great bonus is it scans in color. It is 10 times faster scanning than the Kodak and doesn't jam and keeps all the paper feeds straight. I am glad I bought this printer.
